I'm just trying to understand this subject a little better, my question is that after doing lots of searches i concede that there is no way to transcode dts as yet , but i dont understand why you are able to covert wave to dts BUT NOT dts to wave .
You would think it would possible to undo what you have just done!!!!
There is obviously a reason why , but it seems strange that you can't.
Anyway just a query!

unlike ac3, where the standard's specs are public, DTS specs are not.
there are DTS decoders (like those who used in PowerDVD, WinDVD), and encoders (like Surcode's DTS CD), but all those products were licensed.

Hi maybe i didnt saw the answer in the guides and forums yet, but how can i encode an MP3 VBR Stream from DTS stream...unfornuatly there was only a DTS stream on the dvd i ripped, no AC3.
So is there a tool like BeSweet for that case ?

there isn't any free tool that can decode the DTS track, so transcoding is not an option.

But is there a way to use the PowerDVD/WinDVD filter(s) to decode dts to wav?

I've been tossing this idea around in my head a bit.
What about recording the output of the filter to a WAV, which could then be transcoded to some other format?

@SirDavidGuy:
I tried that in Graphedit before. With VOBS and with extracted DTS. There seems to be no way to connect the output pin of the file reader to something else. It just seems that the Intervideo Filters are locked for DTS outside of WinDVD.

I think you can. Use Total Recorder to capture the sound(to *.wav) played by the software dvdplayer. It capture sound coming out of soundcare digitally,no need for external analog cables.
I tried it before, record the sound while playing a DVD with
powerDVD 3.0.
It is not the perfect solution. I must say that there will some syn problem , because u need to press the record button at EXACT time when the video starts.
But again I think the syn problems can be fixed by some other programs.

Yes, that is what I mean.
It could probably be done, by matching up the Decoded-To-Wav DTS track and the decoded AC3 track.
Any thoughts?
