I have just begun using TMPGEnc and Maestro to encode/author DVD movies. I am using forced film in DVD2AVI to make the project, then selecting 23.93834(whatever)(29.97 internally) FPS in TMPGEnc. Here's the formula I previously used for 2-pass VBR:
NEW AVE. BITRATE = Size of new video stream x 8 /length of movie /1000
MAX. BITRATE = 10000 - (Size of audio stream x 8 / length of movie / 1000)
Min. Bitrate = 0
However, I find that using this formula in the newest version of TMPGEnc results in 500-1000 MB of wasted space on my DVD. Please, someone let me know the best way to calculate New Average Bitrate, Max Bitrate, and Minimum Bitrate as well as what "old 2-pass VBR" (is this the method used in older versions of TMPGEnc? Perhaps it would give be a better output size?) and regular are, and if there are any other settings that would affect the output size.
This is for NTSC films using forced film to change the framerate in TMPGEnc.
