Info Checking Subtitle File. Stream ID = 1, File = (I:\Way_Of_The_Gun\Subs2\wotg.sst)
Error The display area does not match the pixel area.
Error The pixel area (bottom) should be smaller or equal to 575.

1st of all close the dialog of the subs on the screen after u get the error on messages.
Open the sst file on notepad and correct the pixel area line on the header of the sst from 576 to 575 or less. U r done.
My suggestion is that u save the header upon succesfull completion of subs import and replace any new one with the saved one.

Try to change your Bottom and Height values to 575 pixels.

Had the extact same prob with disappearing subs in Scenarist just once. Tried to pipoint what caused it.
Been able to isolate a few discrepancies I made.
1. Does the subs in the movie had an id, say 22, but u author them as 20?
2. Did u CCE again the video under the same name, that forced Scenarist to recompile its vif?
I ll be waiting for feedback.

Hmm to be honest i do not know where to look on which number i might have authored it as ...can u explain that one further to me....and when it comes to the video i just cce'd it once and that was it ...and i guess that it could be that i saved all the files as the same name as "wotg"......is that what you mean with the second one

I guess that if u author the subs as the 1st and only stream whereas in the original it was on the 2nd, or don't know really what position, pointers in the ifo file will look to the now empty or non existent spot in the file to locate subs but can't find a thing.
I need clarification on "wotg" to answer this.

This happened to me a lot but I finally figured out what my problem was and fixed it.
My subs showed up in powerdvd/windvd but not on a standalone. My finding wass that my substream showed something like 0x80/0x81 for the stream address. PowerDVD and WinDVD seems fine with this, but settops don't. Changing values in the .ifo to where the sub said 0x80 fixed the problem and the subs played on the settop afterwards.

hello eyes.
I have seen many commercial dvds that show up this configuration of subs having multiple ids as 0x20/0x21. The latest I recall was Training Day R2, where all subs where 0x20/0x2?.
Is there any special flag that permits them to play fine that ifoupdate is missing?

"wotg" simply was the name of the movie Wat Of The Gun.....!!!..I guess now i understand what you mean with the stream numbers 0x20/0x21 ......hmm i'll have a look at what it is on the orriginal ..and what it authored it ass ..and will get back to ya!!!

Capriole9000: Did you use ifoupdate with the setting to copy the subtitle table?
Oddyseus: Got me bud, I figure things out as well as I can, but I don't know enough about this feature to figure out why it doesnt work with 0x20/0x21 after reauthoring! One thing I did find out though is what that means, somewhat. In a multiple PGC movie, if one pgc has say, sub track 1 at 0x20, yet another PGC in the same VTS has subtrack 1 at 0x21, it causes that 0x20/0x21 to appear in the ifo. But, I have also seen it on single PGC movies, so this diagnosis isn't 100% complete!

so what exactly do you do if that example, as Eyes has put it, happens?

capriole9000:
Hmmm then this symptom wouldn't apply to you. Your .ifo should have sub 1 at 0x20, sub 2 at 0x21, etc.
