View Full Version : You are the DVD menu keeping God if you can solve my problem (NON-FAQ prob)

I've had about 5 weeks of non-stop work hours splitting dvd-9s to dvd-5s. I've had success to almost all dvds when i split dvd-9 to dvd-5 and KEEPING the menu with the exception of a DVD coming from ONE COMPANY called US MANGA CORPS. It's IMPOSSIBLE to keep the menu when you're splitting the dvd-9 to 2 dvd5 discs.

The problem with keeping the menu when splitting the dvd is this.....there is no option to check in FIRST PGC that would ALLOW me to jump to the title menu.

In a simple nutshell this is what happens. DVD starts with FBI warning..jumps to a "parental discretion advised warning" vob (this is a file that would end up being on the 2nd dvd-5 if i were to split it)-->jumps to the company logo (this file would end up being on the 2nd dvd-5 disc during a split)-->then it jumps to the title menu.

Just to let you know the issue here is NOT the "parental discretion advised warning", I can skip that by pointing the first PGC to something PAST that point. Then i don't have to worry about BS illegal navigation error.

if i look at vtsm_pgci_ut and vmgm_pgci_ut there is ONLY the root menu. I changed ALL my first pgc settings to ALL possible combinations that existed in the .ifo files....it DOES not work. NEver brings me to the title menu (this doesn't work in a dvd-9 decrypted NON split copy on my HDD).

The funny thing is....THE ONLY time i can get to the menu is if I get THROUGH the FBI warning sign. If i change my first pgc PAST that point I CAN NEVER get to the main menu but it takes me to a weird creidt menu.

Now..........someone with a LOT of expertise....please tell me what the hell is going on. This isn't a simple matter of missing ifo files or "did I copy over the .ifo files that were created by ifo", or "did you change the first pgc to title #1, ttn#1, root".

I'll be happy to provide info on my ifoedit (copy and paste) or possibly even host the ifo files on a site.

Help me solve this problem and you're the menu keeping god.

So you're prob is, there are no commands in first-play pgc to edit?

But you would need one command there?

why don't u include both the FBI warning and parental advice to both sides along with their ifo's?

Is it possible that a command sequence after the FBI warnign checks about the title playing and acting up on it?

Is it possible that the FBI warning must be the ?th ttn played?

Just some thoughts.

oh god finally a response thank you derrow. I'm so honored my post was worthy of your attention :))))))))))))))))))

So you're prob is, there are no commands in first-play pgc to edit?

Actually there IS. There is a first-play pgc. if I see the structure of the dvd i know ALL possible title, Title set #'s and what root, subpic, audio, etc. menus are all availabel on the dvd. (its' a dual layered disc=8gb or so). I choose every single one of them and it doesn't work.

AFter i dvd decrypt and put it on my hdd. UNLESS i go through the FBI warning there is NO way i can get to the title menu! (it always skips to the chapter menu and IFOEDIT gives an error message).

So........to answer the 2nd person's question. I CAN"T include the FBI warning b/c AFTER the warning sign is over, it jumps to a file that is vob7(which is a vob file that ends up on the 2nd DVD-5 disc if you split it). HOWEVER, if i select the FIRST-PGC to point to a place AFTER "vob7", the title menu NEVER shows up but jumps to the CHAPTER menu.

The issue here isn't so much of a biggie but it makes me wonder if the company has produced some "menu scheme" to make dvd copying life miserable for folks like us....and if stuff like this gets used in the future........ugh.

why don't u include both the FBI warning and parental advice to both sides along with their ifo's?

I don't think i can.....or can I? I certainly don't mind including them both but the problem is that the parental advice is on the "last vob" which ends up being "split" onto the 2nd dvd-5 disc.

What would i do theN? Should i simply copy that one file into the FIRST dvd-5 split and make fake "filler VTS.vobs" that don't occupy space on the disc and create a new ifo file?

This is where i'm kinda stuck.

Then........if this is possible. It raises issue on the 2nd disc. The vob file containing the parental warning will be renamed from VOB7 to VOB 3 (assumign VOB1-4 goes on dvd-5 disc 1).......i guess that will pose other issues.

Is it possible that a command sequence after the FBI warnign checks about the title playing and acting up on it?

Possibly........the only problem is i don't konw how to see this in ifoedit ^^;

Is it possible that the FBI warning must be the ?th ttn played?

Possibly..........same reason as above ^^;

Just some thoughts.

If you can tell me a way to check taht would be awesome....I just don't know how to act upon (see in ifoedit) your suggestions in ifoedit.

Thanks for input so far everyone :)

Hi!

I donīt see any reason why you want to rename any vts7_??_.vob to a lower number on the second disc? My experience is that you donīt need to have title sets in a numeric order as long as they arenīt accessed and you keep vts1_??.*.
Why donīt you just copy the vts7 or whatever contains the FBI warning to both discs and leave it original if you have enough space? I always do that and it works!
Your problem for sure has something to do with the jump command being in one of the ifos you left out - probably the FBI-warning. Try that and report your results!

Good luck

sorry for the confusion. It's VTS_01_7..........sorry for confusion it's not VTS_07. That owuld have been easy b/c i could just copy over VTS_07 and the ifo files related to it.

So the dvd gets split like this.

Movie files are on VTS_01-1 through VTS_01_7

VTS_01_1 through somewhere in VTS_01_4 gets split to disk 1

rest of VTS_01_4 through VTS_01_7 gets split onto disk 2

I NEED VTS_01_7 on disk 1 and simply copying the file over onto disk 1 isn't the answer.

I think i need to create a new ifo file with "blank no space" VTS_05 VTS_06 which i will try right now..........
