I am trying to encode an Anime Rip, and whatever I try to do switch birates etc, My Subtitles always get "macroblocks" in them, like they will get blocky on some words, etc... I wish I could show a sample but I don't have a fast enough connection to even upload one, sad eh? Anyway How can I fix this error in my Subtitles? Only a few of them have this "macroblock" or blocky text overlapping the subtitles.
Current settings are a fairly high birate, and doing 2 pass encodes.
Hope that was clear!
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums-
It's a DivX3.11 problem that can't really be fixed. You can try and use a different color, but with no guarantees it'll work. The only two real answers are to use soft subs, such as those in .srt or .ssa format, or switch to a different codec (DivX5 or XviD) where that problem doesn't exist.

Well I am using an SSA Format thats the thing (Sub Station Alpha) is what I do all of my encodes in, and I still get the damn blocks hmm..

Hi-
Yeah, but you're burning them back onto the video with Subtitler or TextSub-I meant keep them separate and use DVobSub to display them.

Hi-
You should have everything you need already (but maybe update VobSub to the latest if you don't have it yet-Ver. 2.18, I think). Put the SSA file in the same directory as the movie and make sure they have the same name (like Matrix.avi and Matrix.ssa). When the movie starts to play, you should get the green arrow in the lower right Sys Tray. If you can't tell the separate ones from the already burned in ones, maybe change the color of the subs in the SSA file temporarily (just for testing with a movie with already burned in subs).
Keeping them separate is in many ways a better way to do it anyway.
