Bug in VobEdit?

Following the guide by Derrow for joining vob's I came across what I think is a bug.
I know Derrow recommends saving in a different directory but when I tried "join clips", in the "Save As" window, in the same dir. as my movie it lets me specify a new file name I've named it VTS_01_5.VOB but it will always save the file as VTS_01_1.VOB so overwriting the original VTS_01_1.VOB without any warning. Even in a different dir. it is saved as VTS_01_1.VOB not as VTS_01_5.VOB

Yes - it's the same here but I wouldn't call this 'a bug'.
The new set always comes out as VTS_01_X. Derrow uses this 'Select file_name routine' to select the directory and doesn't care for the _your_ choice of file_name. He even doesn't care for overwriting.
I wouldn't blame him for this. His guides advice you to choose a different directory...

Rather than trying to make the user-interface foolproof he tries to implement more fuctionality. AND DON'T WE ALL LOVE HIM FOR THIS? :D

BTW - there are good reasons to name a set VTS_01_x because the presence of the '01'-set seems to be a MUST for stand-allones.

Of course, you can easily rename your set to the number, you need. But be aware of the following: If you have a folder with a -let's assume- VTS_03_x set and do a 'Create IFO's' on that set (with IFO-Edit) it won't play, because this routine also assumes that the set was '01'... the PGC will point to vts01.

Ok I understand the need for the VTS_01_x on stand-alones.
But when I already have a set of let's say VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2, VTS_01_3 and I want to add a second set from a flip side, beginning also with VTS_01_1 ect., with "joining clips", the correct way, I think, would be to save these files as VTS_01_4 ect. in the same directory as VTS_01_1 so arriving at a complete set of VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2, VTS_01_3, VTS_01_4 ect.

BTW- I don't mind following Derrow's guide, to choose a different directory... it works for me it is just an obsevation I made trying to join different sets of vob's, so creating a single set of vob's.

And I hope that Derrow get's a SW award for his work.

Honestly... what crap is sold out there - and on complaints / questions by eMail you always receive the standard answer: "Must be your hardware-configuration" :angry:

That's right. My time is very rare to create fool-proof tools.
First I want to implement all urgent needed features, what results in less error-handling and so.

Currently I'm on it, to get this damn muxing issue working, and my first test-results look very good on this.
Now you can expect soon an IfoEdit that will mux any m2v file with ac3 or wav to a VOB file. :p :D :cool:

Yes buddy your work is tremendous for all the people here.

One thing I would like to ask you and is concerning VOB joining : whenever I try to make a VOB set from two sided disc I lost all the chapter info from the second set. VOB edit creates one chapter out of a second set? OK, I now I can do some calculation to get the propper info but I just wonder if there's a way to get everything right. My friend has a lot of splitted movies and I wish to make it on a single one using CCE.

You can try adding chapters manualy it worked for me.
