Creating a 'End of Disc 1' message for DVD-R's?

Just want to see if anyone out there has tried this?

I was thinking of trying to 'tack on' a message or note at the end of a disc, when I split a DVD-9 into two DVD-R's. Right now when the end of the first disc is hit, the player just stops and you kinda get this 'what the f!' look on your face.

Has anyone developed a 'VOB' or something that can be added to the end of a disc to just display something like "End of Part 1" . Would be great for those double-sided discs, to say something like "Okay, flip the disc over now"....

Or is this just wishful thinking?

In maestro set the end action of the last chapter to play the still/m2v of your end of disc one clip.

If it's a still you can set the time out for what ever you want. Or encode it to a m2v for 150 frames or so.

It shouldn't be too hard (even in Scenarist) to make a screen with Paint that displays your message, just like you can display whatever menu that's already on the disc after playing the movie. Import it as a menu-still and link the post-command of the last PGC/videostream to it. Or use (parts of) the short video-stream of the first side of 'The Right Stuff' (flipper-disc): it displays a black background with a spinning cd and a hand.

I will not explain how Paint works hehe. Maybe someone could tell me what a good image-editor in Linux might be? And what dvd-authoring tool?

Pity there isn't a program that flips the disc inside the drive...
