messed picture

hi there!
with my recent xvid-encodings i keep getting a messed-up picture.
i've attached a jpeg for demonstration.
i am using nic's binary dated sep. 10th but have crosschecked with koepi's build already, and the problem is persistent.
also neither switching from ffdshow to xvid dshow-filters nor reinstalling everything involved from the latest avisynth to dshow-filters have done the trick.
has anyone come across this and is able to help?

try with resolutions that are multiples of 16.
then go to multiples of 8, 4

i already thought of this, but the screenshot is in original size, 352x160, so both width and heigth are dividable by 16

Goodness! That is strange. Can you post a 2 or 3 frame avi of the source? Or does the same thing happen to other codecs?

Could you post your avs script?
´cause I remember having a similar distorted picture due to a fu***d up filter-chain in my script.

Anyway, could you also please load the original file (.avs .avi or whatsoever) in Virtual Dub and report if the preview-window shows the same distorted picture?

Hm; feels familiar for me, too. I believe it was when I put one deinterlacer before the resize filter in my script - but I'm not sure which one. Can you post your .avs?

You're not feeding RGB data into VirtualDub by mistake and using Fast Recompress, are you?

seems i have to post a huge sorry, my fault for this one - i had myself fooled by the size of the screen capture i made and posted

the problem seems to have been with the picture sizes indeed - i experimented with halving them for deinterlacing a bit and obviously too much - or at least i believe this was the problem since after spending some more time on this and correcting the sizes everything goes well again.
i'm really sorry to have bothered you with this and hope you can forgive me :rolleyes:
