Hi there.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to tmpg, but i am quite experienced at encoding xvid stuff - so....

My friend emailed me some nice pics off our holiday and i want to send him a funny 20 second clip from one of my buffy encodes so i thought i would use mpeg1 as his works computer should play this (asking him to install xvid on his works computer just to play my clip would worry him for sure!) But.....

Every resolution or bitrate i try gves the same file size (3.97MB). I have picked vcd (pal) template initially and then the 'unlock template' to adust resolution and bitrate (224x192 @600kbs) - STILL 3.97 MB!!!!

Please help as it has anoyed me so much that i won't let it beat me. If i can't send it within the next few hours it won't be funny anymore (timing and context crucial!)

Thanks in advance

Why don't you use DivX5?

Hi there.

I just assume that a works computer will have no codecs installed at all, but may only have wmp, so i figured that mpeg1 should be the safest bet in getting it played.

My friend sent me an mpeg1 clip via email from his work, so that makes me think that at least wmp must be installed. To be honest i would prefer to send umaniacs xvid build (smallest size) zipped with an xvid file than use divx5.

Its just bugging me why tmpg won't do this!

Thanks

Oh well, i gave up in the end.
I downloaded the nimolite pack (about 1.2mb) and zipped it with my much reduced xvid clip. This gave him mp3 codecs too.
