View Full Version : Creating SVCDs by splitting chapters. Losing/missing a few seconds from first discs.

I typically generate SVCDS 1 disc at a time (see "Some Hint" under Q46 in the FAQ) when feasible. This is basically to get a clean break (i.e., chapters) between discs.

I've noticed just recently that this may result in a few missing seconds in the first discs of a series (disc 1 of 2 or discs 1,2 of 3).

I see that this was brought up in prior threads. Here are two:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18972 http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16340

Is this currently a recognized limitation of the software? Any comments on this are appreciated...

Here's a log snapshot from my second disc of Black Hawk Down (3 disc rip). This one appeared to be missing maybe a second, two at most. Also, the .MPV file appears to be complete:

Do you view the MPG file in WinDVD or PowerDVD? Do you just test them in your DVD player? I've noticed that my DVD player wont play the last 1-2 seconds of the mpg. It'll stop short, pause for a minute and either stop or jump to the next mpg on the disc. I know it's there, because I watched it on my computer.

If you said the mpv file is complete, then maybe it could just be something like that. Check the mpg that bbmpeg gives and see if it's all there.

The .MPV file is complete to the end of the last chapter ripped. I did check the .MPGs -- they show the same effect as the finished product...missing the last second or two.
