:stupid: I've got some DIVx movies that I would like to see on something other than my laptop or PC. Is there any way to put these movies onto a disk to see on a DVD player? What about seeing them running a patch cord from the monitor to the TV. Any ideas out there??
Thanks, JayCee:stupid:

Is there any way to put these movies onto a disk to see on a DVD player... Yes, they can be re-encoded to SVCD or VCD. Check your standalone player, first, using the database at www.vcdhelp.com to see if it can do VCD, SVCD... and if it can also use CD-R or CD-RW discs. If that's the way you want to go, Doom9 has guides. What about seeing them running a patch cord from the monitor to the TV.... If your video card has TV-out connectors, then yes. TV-out would either be composite video (RCA socket -- looks like any on the back of your stereo) or S-video (looks like a PS/2 mouse port). Not all video cards have them.

I think that you should use TMPEGenc for the conversion. It can convert you divx to either VCD or SVCD. The SVCD encoder is only a trial version that lasts for 30 days, but otherwise its great. You just load your divx movie and select a profile depending on what you want, press start, wait a few hours and your done. You might have to split the movie though, you can find the guides on Doom9's site with a much more detailed explanation.
The TV out is a great option and I should mention that using the regualar AV inputs on your TV will result in a bit of quality loss. The S-video out delivers a much sharper and detailed picture, if you have them on your video card and TV.
