I recently finished my first authoring of a DVD - complete with motion menus, subpictures, etc. - the works.

It works perfectly in standalone players (a Toshiba SD3109 and a Panasonic portable DVD player) and on a Mac with a DVD player (not sure software)

But when I play it on my desktop (PowerDVD) or my laptop (WinDVD) - on the "Title" entry PGC it speeds through the first 2 seconds in as little as 8 frames - then starts playing at regular speed.

The only thing I can think of is that the Audio portion of this is set to start at 1:27 instead of 0:00. It's as if the video portion of the menu speeds through the first two seconds to catch up with the audio.

No other PGC has this problem.

Has anyone else had this problem or would they be able to explain it?

Thanks again.

in DirectShow (which 99.9% of windows dvd players use) the speed of the video is controlled by the audio codec, if there is no audio, or the audio isnt supported, then the video plays back as fast as the decoder can do it.

examples of this are: (specifically with the early retail builds of cineplayer 4)

playback a SVCD mpg: video speedup and high pitched audio.

playback a multiplexxed m2v + dts: no sound and 100+fps video (on my machine)

(just for completeness, i recreated the m2v+dts in mp6.4 using the powerdvdxp codecs)

the solution?

instead of using 'no audio', use silence.
