HAS ANY ONE MANAGED TO COPY MONSTERS INC YET I AM USING DVD DECRYPTER IFO EDIT AND RECORD NOW MAX I GET ERRORS WHEN TRYING TO BURN

Yup, I managed to rip the special edition movie only and it worked first time.

Used Smartripper 2.41 whole rip, then a stream rip to m2v, rempeged then used IFOEdit to remux the m2v, got vts sectors then wrote using Nero 5.5.8.2 all worked fine.

Not sure if this was any quicker I never timed it, a friend done it this way while I was watching, just done a stream rip m2v and ac3, rempeged m2v then imported in to Spruce UP then wrote title set, then wrote using Nero 5.5.8.2.

I tried to do the whole rip and just transcode the movie then put it into the rest but got various problems when trying to play it on a standalone, worked fine on PC but nothing new there.

I used smartripper all files then Ifoedit strip streams main movie only keeping 5.1 sound, create new files which gave approx 4.2Gb VIDEO_TS folder which I burned to one disc using Primo, no menus no extras but all chapters retained.

Worked first time on a bulkpaq DVDR 47p from blankdiscshop.co.uk

Ripped with Smartripper 2.41 "Movie Only" mode.

Ifoedit for new IFO set (Small problem there, but worked 2nd time.

Small problem with the extras, but that too sorted.

I ripped entire dvd-9 to dvd-5 with original menus and extras subs and all audio. used dvd decrypter to rip and scenarist with ifoupdate. works beautifully. what errors are you getting?

I have the region 1 CD and I ripped just the 16:9 version to a DVD-R with no problems at all. Burned with NERO 5.5.9.9.

You guys seem to have all the luck! I'm a relative newbie, but have successfully ripped a few DVDs thanks to the guides and the invaluable forum advice. But Monsters, Inc. has me stuck.

I ripped the whole movie on to my hard-drive, and then ran IFOEDIT. It seems the main movie (16:9) is in the VTS2 files. Do you guys have a step-by-step surefire method for putting the ripped Monsters, Inc. onto a DVD-R using IFOEDIT? If so, I'd greatly appreciate that.

I had problems with the region 1 version of this initially. The problem was caused because I waqs trying to keep everything and re-encoded the video stream with cce. The problem came because the film titleset has an extra pgc of just a blck screen which I think had been added specifically to annoy me ;-) Anyway I still haven't figured out this whole extra PGC thing but managed to get the disk down to size by stripping the vob id's for all trailers and getting rid of all extra audio tracks and subs. Burnt to disk and works fine only problem is it takes a while to start due to the player looking for all of the trailer which are now missing.

mshanker, there are a few guides that explain how to keep just the movie. That's really the easiest thing there is (if the movie fits) due to the fact that only Ifoedit is needed.

Here's how I did it.
All of the files to HD using DVDDecrypter
Open VTS_02_01.IFO (i believe this was the first file of the 16:9 movie) in IFOEDIT
Select VOB Extras
Use the default settings or follow the settings in one of the guides
Select OK
Pick 1 soundtrack and 1 subpicture
Select strip it
Select the VOBId's (I can't recall which were needed, use DVD2AVI to check the VOB id's) This is also in a guide. Ifoedit can also tell you which ID's the PGC uses but I don't normally use this.

Once it's done you should be down to 3.60GB, which is small enough for a DVD-R.

I tried to copy this movie on 2 DVD-R, but somethig is wrong:
- Disk1 plays correctly, but the scene selection pointers to chapters are wrong;
- Disk2 doesn't play at all, but if you modify the IFO to play directly the movie on disc insertion, all seems to be ok. But, unfortunately, at the end of the movie an "illegal navigation error" is displayed.
Also in this case the scene selection produces erratic results.
If somebody knows what I should modify to get both DVD working, please let me know.
I want to keep all contents, extras and audio tracks.

Irosado, reading your post, I assumed that you didn't have to use CCE to re-encode, am I right? If that the case I'm really interested on how you did it, because I tried to do the similar way on the weekend but had a few problems. I just wondering if you could help me out?
I was trying to copy Monster Inc., region 4 which had the main movie in the VTS_09_x.vob files. The original size is about 6Gigs. I then used DVD decrypter to look at the file and saw 2 PGCs. The first PGC is about 1:28:00 long and the second PGC is 0:00:00. I then proceed to rip the fist PGC, I also demuxed the audio tracks and subtitles at the same time. After ripping, I looked at the m2v file and it was only about 3.2 Gigs in size :confused: .
I also looked at the size of the Audio tracks files and the DTS file is about 500M, the AC3 track is about 250M and the Director's comment (2ch) tracks is about 125Megs.
I was a bit puzzled at the time why the total of these files (without re-encoding) is smaller than 4.3Gigs and the orignial file is about 6Gigs. However, I thought, I just try to use Scenarist to re-author the movie without the need of using CCE and see what happen.
I also used subrip to rip the English subtitle, as I did not know what to do with the subtitle file that DVD-Decrypter produced? Does anybody know which software accepts these subtitles file?
In Scenarist, I can import the m2v and the audio tracks OK, eventhough scenarist gave me some warning, which I did not understand why. However, when I tried to import the subtitles files, I get errors for every bmp files. :confused:
The other option that I haven't try is to use DVD Decrypter to rip the first PGCs with only the AC3 and DTS track and the English subtitle and then use IFOEdit to recreate the .IFO files. Would anyone know whetther this method would work?

strip all unwanted streams and the movie only fits on one dvd-r.

Actually I did use CCE, I copied both full and wide screen with menus and extras. All I did was just resize the two movie formats, I have R1 copy

Im a newbie to this forum, but not a newbie to the "hobbie". The Easiest way i have found to do standalone movies is to extract the movie files only to your choice of directory, then with ifoedit, i would create entirely new IFO files. Make the necessary adjustments to the ifo files to reflect what is on the movie, and burn. I use Nero to burn with by the way.

when i say necessary adjustments, im talking about changing the audio and video attributes.
