I've just parted with a lot of cash to buy the limited edition of Independence Day and want to do a backup.

It won't fit on to a DVD-R just with stripping, even dropping one of the of the 2 PGC, normal and special edition.

When stream ripped the m2v file plays as if on fast forward therefore when muxed audio is way behind video.

I've had a look around and couldn't see any similar problem, has anyone else came accross anything along these lines?

Thanks Chumboy but it looks like I've mastered it and found out what I consider to be interesting into the bargin, would be great if someone could confirm my find.

I started over from scratch and done the following;

1. Full rip using DVD Decrypter
2. Stream rip of the 1st PGC the special edition
3. Used rempeg to get the file size down
4. After the step above I then took to examining the headers of the two files, original m2v & rempeged 2mv.
5. Nothing special here or so I thought until I started playing around, am I right in thinking that rempeg only re-writes the file length string and data rate? or is there more? any one expand?
6. I noticed that there was a 25 in the original but in the same place on the rempeged file that was 75.
7. I changed this 75 back to 25, file properties still fine, (75 possibly something along the line of FPS?).
8. Played file in PowerDVD, was playing at normal speed, and looked ok.
9. Used IFOEdit to remux using original IFO for TS 1 into new dir.
10. Moved the rest of the original rip into new dir and got VTS secs.
11. Movie played perfect in PowerDVD, perfect playback on standalone.
12. All audio and video are in total sync, only one strange oddity that I've noticed and that's when playing theatrical version I get a little bit of video break up in about 4 places I'm assuming that this is where it selects different chapters but I can live with this as it happens for less than a second.

All in all this took me about 16 hours from start to finish and worth every minute I can now put my original away safe from my kids.

Any of this make any sense to anyone or have I just been lucky?
