Ok, check this out. I have been having problems lately and I have burned many-a-dvd with my pioneer a03. Lately, my discs (movies) will not read on my ps2 or my buddy's standalone. Stangely they play fine on my xbox. Note: all movies in my collection play in all of these players with the exception of the last 4 movies I did. So... I fiddled around with the Prassi Primo options and found something interesting.

If you right click on the folder you've added to the disc layout, you can go to "Recording Options". In it, there is a setting that says: "UDF with Joliet - Up to 106 in length, any char., plus Joliet 8+3 tree (Bridge)". This is the default selection that comes up every time you start Primo.

I changed this the the other option "UDF up to 128 in filename length, any char., plus 8+3 tree (Bridge)" and now all of my movies play on all players again. BUT, the latter option comes up as the default option EVERY time.

Does anyone know how to change this and/or why the discs won't play using the supposed default?

Yes your right. I have burnt DVD's with both options previously and it made no difference ( although to comply with DVD spec you should not use the Joliet option). I upgraded my VOB Instant DVD/CD software to try out the advertised DVD9 to DVD5 option (Don't bother it is useless & Dangerous:scared: ) and it completely messed up my Ifoedit DVD Ripping etc.
I uninstalled it and had to delete & re-install nearly all of my DVD ripping software. Now it does make a difference as the Joliet option wont play on some DVD players.
I can't find a way to default it to the correct option - so I manually do it each time I go in. A very, very strange tale of woe.
Happy Ripping
