The movie I'm baking up now, Peter Pan, has a complex menu system so all I want to do is just keep the main movie. The main movie vobs can fit onto a dvd-r. So here is what I did, I copied the main movie vobs into a folder, created ifo's for it with IFOEdit and it seems to play fine in powerdvd xp.

Question: Do you think it will play ok in a stand-alone?

This will create a dvd that only contains the movie

I managed to copy whole DVD to DVD-R with menus an all, worked a treat.

Done full DVD decrypter rip, then ripped m2v stream for movie and animated story book (2 of the largest sets). Rempeged them both to 50% scale matching source.

IFOEdit ripped full rip to remove every stream but english audio, then remuxed using 2 x m2v files from rempeg into another directory then moved the original video_ts.vob and other VTS_??_0.vobs into new directory, got VTS sectors then changed first PGC which was the menu to go straight into movie but if you press menu it takes you to it where you can access all the bonus material but the film throws a wobbly if you try to play it from the menu, didn't take that matter any further.

One more thing I needed to specify English 5.1 audio or the movie will start without sound and I had to go into setup and select.

My daughter loves this film that's why I went to this length to do a full rip.

Hope this this all makes some sense and is of some use to someone, didn't seem as complicated when I was doing it.

JamesDC,

There's a solution to that issue you are having with the sound not being there when the dvd starts. Want to hear it? I hope so, because here it is haha--

If I explain this too simply, don't be offended, I'm just trying to help others like yourself that may come across this issue.

OK, so I'm going to assume that you, like myself, just don't do the 2ch audio track if there's a 6ch one, right? Unfortunately the DVD is configured to start with audio stream 1 playing. But, this is not hard to change.

For this case, lets assume stream 1 is the 2ch audio stream and stream 2 is the 6ch one. If your 6ch is on a different stream you may have to adjust accordingly.

Open the ifo of the VTS of the main movie. Navigate to PGC 1 at VTS_PGCITI -> VTS_PGC_1. There you should see some lines similar to the following:

[0000000c] Audio stream 1 status 32768 [8000]
Audio stream 1 uses stream nr.: 0
[0000000e] Audio stream 2 status 33024 [8100]
Audio stream 2 uses stream nr.: 1

Notice audio stream 1 starts at 32768 while audio stream 2 uses 33024. What if we were to also point audio stream 1 to 33024? When the DVD went to play audio stream 1 it would use 33024 then, right? So change it. Double click on the line with 32768 and change it to 33024. That's it. Click Save and overwrite your ifo and bup and you're done. Some may note that the 'audio stream 1 uses stream nr.:' still says 0. It's just a quirk of ifoedit (not necessarily a bug, but i hesitate to call it a 'feature'), the stream is not refreshed after the address has changed. If you close ifoedit, and then reopen your ifo, you'll see that 'Audio stream 1 uses stream nr.:' now says '1' next to it.

Now try to play your movie. It will start using Audio Stream 1, yet stream nr. 1 and you will have your 5.1 sound playing as default. Nice, eh?

Hope this helps,

Thanks Eyes ' Only

I will remember that for future, I had seen lines like that in IFOEdit but never experimented with them but will now :D .

Thanks again

A couple of questions for anyone, what is the fastest transcoder?, I currently use nothing but Rempeg on average does a movie in about 4 -5 hours on my 2.5 GHz machine with 2GB ram, can provide full spec if needed.

What is the best player for close compatibilty with a standalone?, I currently use PowerDVD XP but it will play VIDEO_TS dirs that won't play on a standalone or that react wired on standalone.
