mp3 codec not working.....

i'm sorry if this might be alittle bit OT, as it doesn't concern audio enoding but only getting my mp3 codec back to work.

Now my Problem: is installed winXP over Win 2000, and everything works fine except that i can't play mp3 files anymore....
errror in WMP: "filters not connected" or so.
Winamp isn't working as well.
reinstalling codecs with Nimo Codec Pack doesn't help either, and i don't want to reinstall WinXP

what can i do?

Duplex you could try to install the divx3.11 old codec with them come a mp3 codec for windows(well is the mp3 decoder who have windows but with some "enhacements")
