hello .
os:win2k
I try to encode a vob file directly with wme9 .
I installed powerdvd xp+ windvd4 + wmp beta9
wme accept my vob but when i want to use theater multi channel surround sound(vbr 192 peak), each time ,i have an error like: "unsupported format" .
with other audio option ,no problem bur it's completly impossible to test the 5.1 !!!
is there a solution ? do i forget anything ?
Think you very much

You can extract the ac3 from the vob files and then use besweet to change the ac3 into six waves. That should fix your problem (worked for me).

i'm going to see that .
Thinks for your answer but you speak about changing key in registry . do i add these keys or there are in the registry before and i just modify them ??
Because i haven't got it

Those keys are not in the registery by the installer. I found those keys by using RegistryMonitor when loading WinDVD DirectShow filters into GraphEdit.
You will have to add them manually. For 6-channel audio, you will only need one key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\InterVideo\Common\AudioDec]
"Audio"=dword:00000005

ok .
think you very much for your help. For the first time since 6 days ,it works.
But,in fact my problem was a bug in wme. I used marks for video/audio and the encoder crashed . I had not little vob so i should use a big vob with marks for my experiences . so i did a little vob with smartripper and do the processing until the end .and it's good.
Fucking bug !!!!
5.1 : it seems that the central doesn't work . is not it ??
i think that 6 waves is more speed and accurate that use ac3 . What do you think for that ? (i test at this moment)
great think for your help huch

Well, i'm glad you got it working.
I only have 4 speakers in my setup (center was directed to front L/R) so I can only tell those 4 channels are available after the conversion. you could very well be correct that the center channel didn't work.
Also, I never really tested 6-wav since I'd have to convert AC3 to WAVs beforehand (that takes time too, and space) and I simply tried to make DVD->WM9 as simply as possible (less intermediate steps). This WM9 is a beta release and after MS releases the final, I'll do more testings... anyway, so far, I think the WM9 results are quite good.
