Tell you what I did, I created a 52 minute mpeg 2 file from a Music Video that I'll be using in Director. Director projectors are to fit on a 700 Meg CD so Space is very important. Now the mpeg is 530 MB big wgich leaves about 150 Mb to play with. I still have to add a Photo Gallery and an MP3 play list. The size of the mpeg is 320 X 240 which is the multimedia size. I used vegas Video to produce the mpeg. Now is there a way to get a smaller mpeh or AVI size without the lost of more quality. I would like this mpeg or AVI file to be at 350 Megs or so. Any good encoders you know of? I'll use the mpeg 1 file again and re-encode that.

If you want to maintain the video quality while the size is very important factor, you'll need to encode your video stream with VBR mode. I reckon that CCE is very good and fast MPEG-2 Encoder with multi-pass VBR calculation. Now, to control the size of your video stream is to control the bitrate. There's a tool called FitCD that you can use to calculate the size of your final product (after multiplexing, not just your video stream). Go to http://shh.dvdboard.de to get this program. Good luck ;)
