i tried to make dirty harry and no matter what setting i left the the bitrate at in dvd2svcd i kept getting the first disc fine and the second would be about 944mgb
i left the setting to default and still oversive
another silly question if anyone can help, why does dvd2svcd make a much better svcd then just using tmppg regardless of any setting i try with tmpge, im using tmpge when i use dvd2svcd and dvd2avi for both methods
thanks for any help

I am far from an expert.
but what build of DVD2SVCD are you using.
i have had the same problem with previous versions untill i started using the latest one. Also i changed over to CCE for the encoding. Now the largest files i get are 814Mb(perfect).

I belive the DVD2SVCD allready has many advanced settings properly set, that many people have not the experience to adjust properly.

Have you Tried CCE?

Go to the "bitrate" tab and adjust the bitrate boundaries you want. If you don't properly adjust, you'll get oversized files ;)

About the quality of DVD2SVCD, as xnakx said that there're a lot of advanced parameters already adjusted for making SVCD. If you want to learn more, you may want to use each of those softwares manually, not DVD2SVCD. I'm sure you'll learn more! :D

thanks for the help guys, im using 1.0.9build and i have tried the default settings
as far as cce goes, yes it did a good job but it left its mark on my videos and i wont pay 800 bucks for that, its just too much
i have made many other svcd's but once in a while they come out weird
like the usual suspects the time was off and bubble boy was the same
oh yeah the one "kiss of the dragon" seemed to be protected
i just figure some of them cant be done
thanks again

Have you tried TMPGEnc? It's free MPEG-2 Encoder and doesn't put an annoying logo into the movie.

I presume that you couldn't rip. This thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15572) discussed about "Kiss of the Dragon" as well. You might want to have a look ;)

Have you tried other rippers? SmartRipper or DVDDecrypter?

i actually paid for CCE.
only 150$ at a computer show here in california.
I think it is well work at least what i paid for.

Justinus made a good suggestion about TMPEG. other that the speed diffrence it is possible to get very close to CCE in quality.
