illegal navigation after get VTS sector on dvd-5 rental discs

Hi,

I've had this problem a couple of times the last few weeks. I had this rental dvd's (for example behind enemy lines PAL) which were smaller then 4,4 GB. So it should fit on a dvd-r without any adjustments (or maybe rip out some audio stream).
All the dvd'd have in common that they start with some trailer of an other movie.

After I ripped the files to my HD I opened the video_TS file in ifo edit en pressed dvd play. Everything worked ok.
Now I press get VTS sectors and after that I open the video_ts.ifo in ifoedeit again and go to dvd play. Now I get an illegal navigation error. In powerdvd the dvd plays fine, but burned to dvd-rw it doesn't work in my settop player.

So I only copied the movie files and everything works fine, but I would rather have the complete dvd ofcourse.

Anybody had the same problems?

actually the max filesize is 4.33GB. If you really have a DVD-5 then create a disc image using DVDDecrypter (start the program, press R, then press the big bad button;), then once you're done put a blank disc into your burner, press W in DVDDecrypter, select the image you've just created, press the big button again, wait till you're done. There's absolutely no need for IfoEdit if you're dealing with a DVD-5

I have seen single sides exceed what a DVD-R can record. An example is the R1 DVD10 version of Das Boot (side 1 = 4.41G). Supposedly DVD10 are just 2 DVD5 glued together, so this implies that stamped DVD can be slightly larger than the recordables.

I've had indeed a dvd-5 wich was slightly larger then 4,33 GB so I had to strip something. But still it is strange that I get an illegal navigation error when I do not change anything at all (except for the get vts sector that is).

But next time I'll try to create the disc image.
