first attempt putting nonsense on www.avisynth.org

Last friday (6 september) was the first attempt to add nonsense to www.avisynth.org. As can be seen nothing serious (nothing was deleted, only something added), but I though I would mention it anyway. (I didn't see his IP number.)

It's easy enough to fix - I did this last night.

What's more telling is I was, apparently, the only one to either notice or care. I removed the "boobies" headline friday(?) but left the other remarks to see how long someone would notice. Two days later (ie last night) I diff'd the page and cleared out the other remarks.

I ran a guestbook at a web site I used to have. Finally, I had to remove it as this stuff started happening too often and I was forever editing out stuff. I suggest that you'll need to have a mechanism such that changes need to be approved to take effect, like the validation of attachments here.

Or just remove the curious 'Edit this Document' link and make a page for editing that you keep secure through obscurity.

The difference between a guestbook and a wikki is one can be reverted with three mouse clicks, and the other generally can't.

There are wikkis all over the web. This isn't exactly a revolutionary idea. People only bother with placing graffiti on wikkis that aren't heavily trafficked; it's so incredibly easy to remove their footprints, anyone over the age of four is going to get bored with the affair pretty quickly. Since there is only one (usually) of them at a time and many of us, it's barely even an annoyance.

The trick is for everyone here to drop by once a day just to see how things are going. Bookmark a couple of pages; it takes maybe a minute a day to keep things pristine. Think of it an online adopt-a-highway program, only you don't have to wear orange vest and there are no bottles to return.
