i've noticed that in the latest movies i ripped, the first 5 seconds (circa) of the movie are *NOT* present in the svcd.
i'm using the latest prerelease (the one in the robshot modification thread) in order to obtain a DS2 audio.
this "strange" behaviour is not *so* bad (generally the beginning of the movie only shows the useless initial credits) but now im rippin Highlander and at the beginning you should hear Sean Connery's voice that talks about the story of the highlanders and the first word is cut :/
any idea ?

you are ripping all the chapters right?
usually the first chapter should be some sort of studio symbols and such, such as universal, fox, etc...did you somehow uncheck the first chapter on accident?

i rip with vstrip (so i dont select chapters), and the ripped vobs are ok (my brother does divx with them and they're ok)

for the billionth time please encode with internal routines...and read the FAQ.
only use vstrip or smartripper or whatever if internal routines give you problems..while these programs may work, combined with d2s sometimes they can cause errors...try ripping the files over again

I had a similar problem with Green Legend Ran. I used internal routine. I think it has to do with the way the disc was set up. There was no menu for it and the extras were at the end of the movie.

"Q48: I have been having sync and other problems with VOB files I have ripped with another ripper, like SmartRipper?
A: Always use the internal routines or the built in Vstrip unless you have no other choice. SmartRipper and other rippers are known to cause issues occasionally with DVD2SVCD."
After reading this some weeks ago, I stopped using smartripper and started using vstrip (that creates a good report txt).
so maybe you can explain me for the bilionth time why the vstrip rip is ok when it's played directly from the hd, is ok when played through the created Avisynth file , is ok when encoded to divx, but wrong on the final svcd output.
thank you

ill try with the next movie i rent, but this things never happened when i used old dvd2svcd version in the past, so i thought maybe someone noticed it too with the newer version.
But in the past i used to rip with smartripper so maybe the idea u suggest (that the problem is in the ripper) could be the right one. The strange fact is that, as i reported you, on the FAQ both internal routines and vstrip are suggested (while smartripper is marked as bad).

Try to set the movie offset seconds in bbMPEG tab to zero. Sometimes this can cause sync-problems, but if you have set it to 5 you will definatly miss the first 5 seconds.

Movie offset cuts the first X number of seconds off the audio, I don't believe (could be wrong though) that it cuts the video any, in which case that could not be the problem. There is most likely no need to have the value larger than 2, however...
