View Full Version : Highlight button requires subpicture with no stop?

Can anyone confirm this for me?

I want to set up a track with a highlight button that force selects, so I can run a command when the program starts playing (I don't want to use a cell command because I read that cell commands only happen after the cell is done playing). This track will also already have subtitles.

My problem is that Scenarist complains, saying "No valid sub-picture exists for highlight ..." The only way I can get Scenarist not to complain is to make the sub-picture not have any stops, and it also has to be force started.

So it looks like buttons can only be used on a track that's meant to play its entirety as a menu.

I'm wondering if anyone ran into any similar problems when trying to set up any white rabbit features on a track that also had subtitles. Sounds like a similar situation.

I've done it without having to have the sub track play in it's entirety (well I guess maybe it does, but if there's no subtitle to show, basically it isn't causing any harm right?). Yes, you do have to force start it, that's a definite requirement.

Set your sub up to only display the caption you want for a couple seconds, then create a button over that subtitle and assign an action to that button. If you don't want a sub to display at all, you'll still need a textual display in order to get the ability for the button, so set your contrast to 0% and the viewer will not see the sub, yet the button will still work.
