are these discs any good for the pioneer dvr-a03? I am getting a 100 pack from http://store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrmedia/higqual47dvm6.html. They say it will play dvd-r movies in the ps2, Anybody have any knowledge on these discs?

I've never seen them before. It would be interesting to see what ADVDinfo says about them. Maybe they're princo's? hmmmm for that price I'd guess they were princo..but who knows until you get some.

They come in this thursday. I will advdinfo and let you know.

Looks like they sell them at meritline as well...interesting...

I have ordered some @ meritline but it will take a bit longer till they get here.
They use the same internal names for the disc @ cdr-dvdr-media and meritline though the former doesn't use the correct pictures for all products, if you see the jewel case ones (http://store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrmedia/comfor47dvge.html) you'll notice that the sticker on the jewel case doesn't match the description on the html page.

it can't be the same princo as the dvdpro. If they are man....what a rip. Charge more for the same rebadged princo lol.

I will use advdinfo when they come in tommorow and let you know... I hope I don't get screwed as I already gave 2 50 spindle coasters from meritline. I don't need anymore :(

might I suggest the DVD sampler many stores have? One or two of them and you'll know which media works for you and which doesn't. That's not an absolute guarantee as they tend to change manufacturers from time to time (for instance Meritline changed from TDK to Princo for their DVDPro discs - less crappy now but I still wouldn't suggest them) but it's a lot better to waste $12-$19 instead of the $50+ for a spindle.

I really hate waiting for shipping though, but it sounds like a good idea. Question on it though, Do some companies tend to send out good media for samplers and then bad media for spindles? If so, what is the difference of ordering the sampler? I just heard from somebody that this is the case...

even if they did (which I doubt.. would be really bad PR and I'd suppose somebody else in this forum would've reported that) if you get 2 bad discs from a certain brand you're certainly not going to order more of those particular discs. So by excluding brand by brand you should eventually get to a point where you have something reliable.. plus checking this forum regularly certainly won't hurt either.

I just got off the phone with UPS and even though it was suppose to arrive yesterday I just found out that it was shipped out yesterday so I won't get them until 17th, Wow I hope the discs are not as bad as the company's service...

I bought a 100 count spindle of these disks last week. Hard to tell which side is which. I initially put disk in burner upside down. I'm using cce & nero. Have burnt 5. Look fine to me. No pixelization. Not bad for .84 each delivered.

where is the advdinfo program at? :)

Guess I'll keep them :sly:

according to my sources (my discs aren't here yet):

00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 87 0D 13 .B...@....P.....
88 99 80 00 03 4C 65 61 64 20 44 00 04 61 74 61 .....LEAD D..ATA

Which means the same as Optodisc, and so far Optodiscs have worked just fine for me.

I have burnt about 30 so far with no problem... I am having them freeze when I rempeg but I am finding out that this is an ifoedit bug not media based... But I will definitely continue with these as they play flawlessly on my ps2

I will certainly reorder these!

I am very happy with these accu's from www.cdrdvdrmedia.com

Two questions really, 1. Are Accu's really Optodisc? If so, they'er a bargain because I've passed around an Optodisc to 7 or 8 people and no one has had any problems with playback) 2. Why do I always get an ASPI error
( ASPI Command returned:
SenseKey 05h;ASC 24th;ASCQ 00h)
from ADVDInfo when I ask for "Media ID"?

tumbar

Not sure on the first question, are they optodiscs.

you get the error because thats no the right line item...think it's further down the list;

OE....Pre recorded info in Lead In

Thanks tumbar! I've got a disc burning at the moment but when it's done I'll try again. I thought I'd tried all the options but I must have missed that one.

I'd still like to know about the Accu's if anyone knows. I'm down to 3 or 4 blanks and I don't want to get burned like I did on that spindle of fifty supposedly "Grade A" blanks.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but can you tell me which drive your using (I'm betting a Pioneer but which model) and which version of firmware? I'm stuck on 1.32 on my A04 and have been unable to burn to Optodisks since flashing. If these Accus work on the updated firmware I can won't have to return my drive! I've ordered a sampler pack from Meritline that has 2 Accus but it won't deliver until Oct. 1.

Thanks!

rufusrex, I ordered a sample pack from Meritline. The DVDPro's in it worked great. So I ordered 50. Guess what. The fifty that showed up didn't. I read above that DVDPro switched from TDK to Princo and the 2 aren't the same. Anyway, point is, don't count on the sampler to truly represent the bulk product.

tumbar, if you could give me an ADVDInfo on the Accu's I can check against my Optodiscs, I'd really appreciate it.

Please and Thanks!

Thanks tumbar! Definitely not Optodisc. Optodisc's Pre-recorded Information Lead-In actally says Optodisc. I still can't get Manufacturer ID to work in ADVDInfo. Damn! I hate paying full price! Maybe I'll try a few of the Accus anyway.

Just in case, would you check the Pre-recorded Information Lead-In on an Accu?

Sorry, I re-read the posts again. Since you're the one that told me which option to use in ADVDInfo, I'll assume that's where your hexidecimal stuff came from. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info Tumbar. That is very good to know. Thanks DarkMatter also, that is also interesting regarding the Sample Packs. I guess if I knew that before I would have just ordered the Accus but my fault for not asking. One more question, when ordering from CDRDVDR did anyone order the combo pack with the DVD cases? I just wanted to be sure that they had the outer plastic sleeve.
Thanks again everyone:)

rufusrex, I ordered a Samsung 25 combo pack pack from them and it came with 26(?) standard DVD cases with an outer vinyl clear jacket. I can't imagine they'd use anything but the standard case. Too bad those cases won't keep 2 discs without one rattling around like a jewell case will. I'm sticking with the jewell case since I haven't found a rack to hold the DVD cases.

Hy !!

Soon I'll order 100 disc to meritline.com, and I am doubting between Accu disk which are in this thread very good considered! and DVD-PRO grade A , a little cheaper and also good considered but I have also read post with no very satisfying result, by the moment I have only tested Intenso, Pioneer, and Cdrecordable which gave me a very good result, with 3 or 4 coaster from a 100 disc spindle and are considered medium-low quality disc. So I would like to know your advises If you don't mind :)

Accu Vs DVD-PRO ???

Thanks in advance. Greeetings from Spain!!

Ps: I have Pioneer A03 burner.

I am sorry Klona, for not having post the advinfo codes for DVD-R from INTENSO, reason is that I can't make ADVINFO run in my system since I run w2000 without aspi, all I can tell you is that INTENSO CD are PRODISC , so sure DVD's are so. I have great result with them, no coaster at all, If you'd like I can post that in "Sticky thread" but I hasn't advinfo dump so I presume you won't like from me to add a new post without that info, If I was wrong presuming that, I am sorry. And about other brands all I can tell you is that my cdrecordable were bought in January , as far as I know, they don't exist anymore, so I didn't think this info was helpfull and pioneer are simply very good and expensive pioneer in every single place on earth :-)

So sorry, I'll try to make an advinfo in my friend's burner A04, and then I'll post a message with my good result with intenso. by the way I think they are only sold in Europe.

Greetings from Spain.
