Hello,

I manually have created chapter points approximately each 5 minutes.
After I have created the DVD, all the subtitles disappeared after 90 minutes of the movie.
Further on the video+sound is OK, and the subtitles before 90 minutes are not out of sync at all.
I have used 2 M2V files for the movie, and the second M2V file will start at 58m38s.
The chapter point started exactly at 1:30:00:20 , 20 frames after 90 minutes.

After I have manually created the chapter point, I double-clicked the chapter points and set "set to nearest GOP".

Do you think I have forgotten the chapter point at 90 minutes ??

I checked the matrix.son file:
0686 01:29:55:17 01:30:00:11 mt00686.bmp
0687 01:30:00:16 01:30:05:21 mt00687.bmp

and saw that subtitle 0686 was fully displayed and I did not see subtitle 0687 anymore.

I have made a backup of the movie "The Matrix" with the following procedure:

1) Imported Media Asset, selected the AC3 and M2V files.
2) Right-clicked on the first file, and selected "Append Video File to this Asset", selected the next M2V file.
3) Dragged and dropped this Super-Video file to the Movie1 window.
4) Done also for the AC3 file.
5) Right-clicked on the subtitle part, selected "Import Subtitles File...", and selected the .son file.
6) Clicked on the gray chapter part, to create Chapters manually, clicked OK.
7) Double-clicked all the Chapter points, and clicked on "Snap to Nearest GOP".

Further settings:

1) Set TV System as PAL.
2) Deleted Menu.
3) Set right screen format: 16:9 letterbox.
4) Double-clicked on one of the subtitles, selected Colors tab, Edit Palette... , Load , and selected the .spf file to correct the subtitles.
5) Right-clicked on the timeline in the Movie1 window, and choose Zero-Based.

Created DVD with:
1) First saved the project.
2) Clicked Tools, Compile, selected a destination directory.

Very strange that the subtitles disappeared at a chapter point.
Does somebody has an explanation for that ?

Tomorrow I will try to reproduce this problem with another movie part, on a DVD-RW disk this case.

Thanks in advance !!

I have tried to reproduce the problem, but that was not possible anymore.

From now on I will always check the VOB files on subtitles with VOBEdit.

Subtitles are not allowed to cross chapter boundaries. Probably, your timing is a little off, so the actual display of the subtitle may be too short to see. (It pops up just before the chapter point, so it gets severely truncated.)

Just a guess.

I thought that was the problem, because the subtitles crossed the boundary.

But also other subtitles crossed the boundary, and with other movies some of the subtitles crossed the boundary, and with those movies I did not have the problem.

Also with some of the original movies, subtitles cross the boundary.
Check the matrix movie and examine the VOB files.

It looked like it had something to do with the number of chapter points.
When I removed some of the points, 1 each 10 minutes, I did not have the problem.

Now I alsways check for subtitles after I have authored the DVD.

I did the following:

1) Opened the .son file
2) Written down the subtitle times of one of the first, one in the middle of the movie and the last one at the end.
3) Then I translated the time to the SCR
4) Checked the VOB files with VOBEdit.

As a rule, I try to put my chapter points at natural break points - ie, scene changes and the like. This way, I'm almost guaranteed that my subtitles will not cross any chapter boundaries.
