Is there a video card that will capture at 720p?

whats up,

i recently saw some HDTV capture cards used to PVR HDTV. I couldnt seem to find out whether they could capture a normal ntsc source at 720p, which is what i want to do.

also, i was wondering about the iSCAN Pro, Ive heard good things about it from the people who make home theater pcs. I was wondering, if i used this great hardware progressive scanner and line doubler, and then maybe something else, a video stabilizer, mayber. Could i have ultra HQ recordings of my old video camera's VHS?

Also, would i make it 30fps progressive? or 24fps if i was putting it on dvd.

and, has anyone had any experiance with either?

there are video cards that can do it , though they are not capture cards in tht sense , they save the mpeg2 transort stream to your hard drive with out re encoding the signal. this only works if you have a HDTV anteneea and are able to recieve HDTV "over the air" signals , they will not work with any SAT provider that requires a smart card ie DISH , DTV , starchoice , Bell express Vu

if you are talking about a card that can take a 480i source and line double to 720p and save the stream i dont think cards like this exist yet , or if there are the are not cheap. the hdtv cards below are not analog captures and they dont "capture" they just decode the hdtv signal then save it to your hd as it is transmitted over the air wavs

the hipix card ont hat page can covert signals via s-video in to HDtv resoultions via lin doubling but it cannot record them , irts only vor viewing. but i can save the OTA HDTV signals .

I know that the deinterlacer digitizes the video to IVCT in realtime, maybe there is a way to hack the machine and capture the video in binary like people have done with tivo. That would be awesome if that was possible

anyone have any thoughts on that?

its not a HDTV encoder which is whatis need to save the line doubled end product , hdtvs encdoers are like 1000,s of dollars to my knwoledge there is no one to hack one of those to save a line doubled stream via s-video :(

thats casue s-video only caries like 480 lines of resolution or something

i meant throught the digital out plug that they have.

but i did find an hdtv card

its made by pinnacle and it costs around $7500 too much for me

s-video is like 352x480

and 7500 thats about right hehehe
