I am doing a mulltiple PGC movie, the Main movie VTS has 5 PGC's. Each PGC ( 1-5 )has 1 video, 3 audio, 3 subtitle tracks listed all the same but the last 4 PGC's are really just blank screens and audio extracted is 0 bytes in size.

My question is do I have to create dummy AC3 files for the last 4 PGC's and add them in scenarist or do I just add the m2v file and disregard the audio tracks? Because everytime I try to add the audio files(0 bytes) extracted from DVD Decrypter I get an error saying that it is not valid and rejects it.

my experience is that scenarist won't make a layout if audio (at least 1 ac3-track) is missing from a movie (not a still). I'd say you'll have to make dummies. Correct me if i'm wrong plz

Could the empty files be dts-tracks? Then use a newer ripper to extract the dts and use it in Scenarist.

I selected "still show" which is what the guide says for the PGC that is very short in length but no audio is allowed with a still show, should i select slide show. How can I correct this???????????????????

i'm confused about your question as you're suddenly talking about pictures instead of video.
Did you get the audio tracks as complete files now?
How short are your mpeg-streams exactly? Is it really worth having them on the dvd?
Can't you append the short streams (unnoticably) to another longer stream, so that you have to treat it as one bigger video? Or instead make the short video a seamless part of another PGC INSIDE scenarist only.
Was there originally really a sound playing with the videostream?
Have you tried another ripper?

If you're making a still/slide show from a video (which i never tried btw) maybe you should try making an extra VTS for it. Still then i don't think you can add an audio stream to a still/slide show.

There are many things about Scenarist I don't know about I might add, so others' commentary on this is welcome.

Q.>>>"i'm confused about your question as you're suddenly talking about pictures instead of video".<<<<

A.) they are video clips!

Q.>>>"Did you get the audio tracks as complete files now?" <<<<

A.)Yes extracted directly from latest version of DVD Decrypter.

Q.>>>>"How short are your mpeg-streams exactly? Is it really worth having them on the dvd?" <<<<

A.) they are about 5 seconds each. and I have to keep them since I am trying to recreate an original dvd9 to dvd5.

Q.>>>Can't you append the short streams (unnoticably) to another longer stream, so that you have to treat it as one bigger video? Or instead make the short video a seamless part of another PGC INSIDE scenarist only. <<<

A.) Dont understand what you are asking.

Q.>>>Was there originally really a sound playing with the videostream? <<<

A.) No sound they are 0 bytes but they are extracted from the PGC.

Q.>>>>Have you tried another ripper?<<<<

A.) No I havent but I do not think it is the ripper.

I just need to know why it rejects the audio and if I should select slide show instead of still show? I know it's not the video clips being corrupt becuz this has happened to 2 diff movies. the PGC 1 will be the movie and the other PGC's no matter how many there are that are like 2 sec - 9 sec for example are extracted through stream processing and the audio and m2v files extracted are not able to be put back together in scenarist. If anyone wants the m2v and audio files to try for themselves are welcome to email me and I'll send it to you. Please any suggestion will be appreciated....

I wouldn't bother using the blank pgcs at all, you're re-authoring the project so there should be no need to include them. I would only bother keeping them if you wanted to avoid re-authoring (ifo-edit etc) as they may be navigational dummies or something. But if you're recreating the navigation in Scenarist I would disregard them as you are using a new layout which wouldn't need to reference them anyway.

to my understanding you have to add it in order to recreate dvd9 to dvd5 with all extras and original menus. either way I chose slide show and that let me input dummy audio files and after I compiled the vob's it all worked fine. Thanks everyone for your help and input
