4x burning? gimme. That's one much needed feature for impatient people like myself. And with the arrival of 4x writers the quest to find good blanks will once again start over as we'll get new high speed discs that need to be tested and the mainstream will eventually move to 2x speed.

IIRC has Mitsubishi promised to have 4x media by the time...and of course will the availability of 4x recorders decrease the price for 2x recorders and will enable more people to buy 2x drives.

Much more interesting than 4x recording is that it seems to be a good combo drive (what pioneers aren't). Look at the specs: 4x DVD-R, 2x DVD-RW 2.4x DVD+R/W 32x/10x CD-R(W)

that was more my point of posting it, not the 4x support

altho its strange that this drive is only going to have 4x DVD-R support, where the +R(W) has 4x now, altho possibly finalized too late to be put in this drive.

otherwise this drive brings the best of almost all burning dvd worlds into one, only thing that is missing is DVD-RAM, but DVD+R supports basically everything that DVD-R(A) supports, so this would make an awesome drive for authoring houses too.

might have to talk boss into getting a couple of those, and one for me at home of course ;)

DVD-R(A) allows writing of css-scrambled data (better: allows writing of the decryption key), which dvd+r doesn't.

The other so-called features of dvd+r are either FUD (http://info.astrian.net/jargon/terms/f/FUD.html), such as the rediculous claim by dvdplusrw.org that dvd-r wouldn't support VBR, or uninteresting for PC drives.

But with this drive, customers can be 100% sure not to get a "wrong-standard" drive.
