Just interested if anyone can help .

i have encoded a few movies lately and normally use XMPEG, so i am new to DVD2SVCD.

two movies that i tried to encode came out funny, the fox searchlight intro was missplaced and appeared at approx second chapter mark, but the audio was still correct (ie you could still hear fox intro music while you watched other footage . any ideas ??

the movies were Supertroopers and dont say a word, both are Pal and region 4 .

Try looking at the bbmpg_Muxedfile_00 that D2S creates you can play it in WMP. If this file is messed up too then something must have happened when you were ripping it. Try ripping to movie again. Use an empty/new folder for the rip. Let me know how it goes.

sorry i forgot to mention in my earlier post that i was able to encode the file ok using xmpeg.

i have now tried to encode the *.ifo using DVD2SVCD 3 times with exact same result, yet Xmpeg has no problem with the file.

Also was able to encode superTroopers R4 with Xmpeg no problems .

any ideas??

oh yeah,i now check all bbmpeg muxed files and yes they are FUNNY also .

What did you use to rip the movie? If the bbMpeg files are messed up then that means that wherever they are geting their source from must be messed up too (ie the .vob files themselves).

yeah i thought that too, but then i loaded the same *.ifo and *.vobs into xmpeg and the resulting mpeg was perfect .

strange thing is that it has now happened on more than one movie, both are exactly the same result.

should i post a question on the dvd2avi forum ? cause the way i see it CCE is getting the wrong frame data from somewhere. All the frames are there, just some are in the wrong spot .

even more weird is that the sound is ok, if the video was ok the sound WOULD match.

today i ripped some more movies and all went fine, there seems to be an issue with the way DVD2SVCD handles the *.ifo of these two movies .

In your logfile there was no ripping. It can make problems if you ripped this movies with another programm than DVD2SVCD internal routines or the vstrip-option from DVD2SVCD.
Just use the internal ripping with your movie and try again, this could solve your problem.

i will try to get my hands on the DVD and rip again, but isn't it weird that xmpeg didnt have any problems, while DVD2SVCD does .

You can also try this:

1) Make a folder on your HD that has all the vob and the .ifo files.
2) Open D2S and select internal routines. Then select the .ifo again. Then set all of you setting to whatever you would like to use. Select a different folder, then the one the rip is in, to output the completed movie too.
3) Hit go. What it should do is rip the movie again. Using the internal routins. Make sure that if you cut some cgapters from the movie using Smartripper that you also cut those from the movie using the internal routines. If you dont D2S will give you an I/O error as you are telling it to rip something thats not there.

ok heres the weird thing,

i copied the ripped vobs+ifo into another folder, then activated rip option and selected the copied files and now the encoding works fine .

but why does it not work from the original *.ifo ? obviously the correct infomation is all there .

You still never said what you used to rip the movie the first time. Like Labersack said if you used something different then the internal routines or Vstrip then you could have problems. To me it looks like you used something different then those 2.

Make sure to read the Q + A. It clearly states that only the included rippers are supported and if you use another one then you are on your own. There are known problems with other rippers and DVD2SVCD compatability.
I know it sucks for many that have ripped a ton of movies and left them on the HD only to find out that they occasionally run into problems.
One step that sometimes avoids this type of issue is to re-rip the already ripped video into a different directory using the internal routines. It doesn't always work, but it does more then trying nothing.

I used dvddecypter to rip the vobs . whish always works great for xmpeg,

in actual fact i ripped the vobs for use in Xmpeg than thought i would try DVD2SVCD .

DVDdecrypter is by far the worst choice to use with DVD2SVCD. It will most certainly cause issues. Even re-ripping the already ripped VOB files will not work with that ripper.
