I am about to purchase a new DVD player, and was wondering if someone could recommend a excellent player, that would play DVD-R without any problems, whatsover, no pixelation or chapters freezing etc.

I could not find much post in relation to the current players that are out there in the market. Please offer some suggesions... thanks!

pioneer pioneer pioneer. LEAST compatibility issues from all dvd players I test using a variety of discs burnt.

Just buy the entry level 343 (maybe there was a model change).

I have never heard of somethign NOT working in this model but workign in another player.

I will say Pioneer also without a doubt, and I've owned Apex, Toshiba, Panasonic, and Sony. Pioneer's are known for playing anything, not just DVDR's, but VCD, XVCD, SVCD too

hmm, i have the Pioneer 414, 434, and 909.. all have tested some pixelation problem. I have followed faithfully to the burn methods on the guide, and have used Primediscs, TDKs and Verbatim. Burning img w/ Primo.

I am trying to narrow down my pixelation problem on some of the DVDs, and could only narrow it down to my players now. I could not find the recommended Pioneer at my local store. All they have are the current ones, and the most basic model is the Pioneer 250...

This is really a pain in the butt... but I will head to a local store and try to test it out with my DVD-R...

Thanks!

titus,

Have you checked them out via VCDHelp.com? They have a nice report, including what kind of problems or success people have had with each make/model. I've found it very helpful in the past.

The URL is: http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php

You've actually tried branded TDK / Verbatim discs and you're having pixelation problems? I don't think I've ever seen anybody having problems with them, especially on a Pioneer player.

You really shouldn't have to get a new DVD player to play a DVD-R. What burner are you using? Have you tried burning in Nero 5.5.8.0?

I have tried a Pioneer (forgot the model) and it doesn't play mp2 audio DVD's, so it won't play movies I create with DVDit. Apex is ok, but they seem to be kind of flaky. Two friends I know had their Apex players go bad after 6 months.
I currently have an Oritron 600 and a Sony 530D. I like the Oritron the best. Very nice picture, and it plays dvd-r's and dvd-rw's very well. even the cheapie disks from meritline play fine on my oritron

Well, I have tried doing straight burn with Nero 5.5.8.2, and am now burning the img with Prassi. I have a Pioneer A04 burner. I am only ripping the movies w/o extras. Followed the DVD 9 to 2 DVD 5 guide to the bone, and still have problems on my Pioneer.. even my Shinco!

I am trying to narrow down the pixelation problem. It cannot be the way I burn it, can it? Rip with SmartRipper or DVD Decrypt, burn it, or split to 2 and burn it.

I will try some of your recommendation on the players... thanks!

I would recommend for compatibility with any media and burning sofware:

APEX 1500
DAEWOO 5800 VER 2.37

Because i own pioneer, and i've tried with samsung, sony, aiwa, lg and they always have problems with DVDR.

That's my experience.
