Full quality control problem in nandub

Sometimes I have bad keyframes in nandub and this will produce a image until the next keyframe.

I thought that this was a problem because i didn't use quality control but on my last rip i use full quality control and the result is the same.

I used the following parameters:
Antishit:16
Minquality:1

These setting doesn't cause oversize but it seems that they don't solve the problem of bad keyframe.

Is there someone which had an idea? please.
I think that nandub image quality is still better than xvid for >800 bitrate.(It's only my opinion)
But I i can't find a solution, i think that i will try other codec and I will anbandon sbc.

What are your settings and how do you cap keyframes (4-31)? I generally don't /or "didn't" (since I've been using XviD for a long time, and achieving better quality imho ;)) use anti-shit and capped keyframes 2-4 in my sbc encodes with a 2-8 min-max DRF setting. I don't know your settings but 2-4 for keyframes has always worked fine for me (without any anti-shit).

I pointed out that I generally just "didn't" use anti-shit, and capping keyframes 2-4 besides setting min-max DRF 2-8 has usually worked fine for me ;). Come on man, do I "have to" use something else instead of anti-shit? ;)

What do you mean by 2-4 for keyframes?Is that drf quality of keyframes.
If it is that I usually put 2-5 to 2-8(It depends on what movie:1 or 2 cd:but if that works for you i 'll probably change).Couldn't it make bigger files using 2-4?

And if i don't use anti shit, It's great because I'll could make my encodes in fast recompress mode.

Thank you very much iago.I'll probably stay in sbc for a while.But this doesn't mean that i don't test xvid. As you seem to be a user of xvid, do you think it 's better to use xvid decoder or to use divx5 decoder.

I still like nandub-sbc and use it from time to time just for fun or for comparison of codecs, etc. But yes, XviD is absolutely my long-time favourite ;).

Back to topic, yes it is keyframes DRF setting. Under SBC Options->SBC Settings->Compression Levels tab, there is keyframes quality option and the default is min-max: 4-31, which is pretty meaningless imho. If you have problems with keyframes quality and want to ensure having good quality keyframes, cap them lower such as 2-4, if you ask my opinion. (And for the main DRF setting I guess min-max 2-8 is reasonable for both 1cd and 2cd rips.) I don't think it will have much influence on filesize if you set reasonable gauge values. However, predictability is a great problem as you know with sbc.

For decoding DivX 3.11alpha content I personally use either its own decoder or DivX 5.02 decoder. And for Xvid, either Nic's XviD decoder filter or ffdshow.

Well, and of course these are only my personal opinions :). I hope you get good results with your rips.

Sorry iago but the solution you gave me seems not to work.
I have encoded "From Hell" in sbc with keyframe drf between 2-4(I didn't remember because it was nearly a month ago but it is also possible that I put 2-3 or 2-2 for min-max) and I still had shit frames(only one time and it was less shit than before).
It sucks!

But this doesn't matter because I am slowly sliding to xvid.

have you try'ed antishit: 16 min. qual: 28 ?
or if that doesnt help you can try antishit: 16 min qual: 30 motion modulation: 25

Yes I ave already tried and my conclusion is that antishit is shit. because it doesn't change anything.

I read something on nicky pages about editing video or something and the effect from using too much noise reduction produces ghosting. I am not sure what's happening with you dude just trying to give you some more options or if I can help. try this link and scroll down to the noise reduction thing and see if that's what is happening to you.

Maybe your problem is related to high Curve Compression value.
