Hey there,

First off just like to say thanks to everyone out there for the wonderful guides and programs. New to backing up dvds and have made some good strides. Read over all of the guides and looked over many foroum topics.

What I am trying to do is keep the main movie and the main menu. The few dvds I have tried it out on ended up being small enough to fit with out changing anything. The other one I tried was Van Wilder and it worked by just keeping the main VTS files. But, what I have learned was that the only reason it worked was because it happened to be VTS_01. Now I have a few movies, Zoolander and Sweetest Thing that the main VTS are not 1.

So how do I strip out the extras and only keep the main movie and main menu. Actually the main menu is really not that important. If I did not cover anything let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hey there,

I looked at the guide to keep the main movie only and follwed the directions but with no luck.
Here is what I did. First the movie was Zoolander and was in VTS_08_1 through VTS_08_4.

Had to transcode video.
loaded VTS_08_0.ifo into Ifoedit and hit vob extras.
unchecked all except create new VIDEO_TS and VTS_01_0
renamed my original vob files to VTS_01_1 and so on
also copied VIDEO_TS.VOB from original rip
ran get VTSSectors and saved the new ifo and bup files
burned with Nero 5.5.8.0 in UDF/ISO mode.

disc did not play in my stand alone player any suggestions would be great

I have the same problem with The Sweetest Thing.

First of all, the movie doesn't even playback correctly on IFOedit (even after I fixed the RCE Protection). It just keeps repeating the Columbia Picture screen.

Putting that aside, I found that VTS 1-5 and 7-10 are all useless movie previews.
I tried deleting them (in windows) and then doing "Get VTS Sector". It seemed to work, but when I used ImgTools to make it into an image, the image is only 47Megs (size of the VIDEO_TS.VOB file). I suspect it's because ImgTools stopped as soon as it saw that there no VTS_01 exists.

How do I fix this? Is this an ImgTool problem or a delete method problem?

Thanks.

Imgtool needs all the ifos/bups and menu vobs. So does your settop DVD player.

I did not try it with Ifoedit due to some restrictions I have that do not let me use the dvd playback feature. But I did open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file with Power DVD and it played off my machine fine.
