View Full Version : Scenarist - Subrip - Hybrid Source Problem

I'm backing up the X-Files Season 1 DVDs. The discs are multi-pgc and therefore I'm using Scenarist to reauthor as I plan to keep original menus, etc. I'm saving my DVD2AVI project with forced film off and keeping at 29.97. The source videos are hybrid, so I'm using Decomb to solve that problem. I've tried Subrip 1.03 and Subrip 1.06 and have been saving my subtitles as Scenarist compatible. I'm having difficulty getting my subtitles to be perfectly synced. I've tried setting the dropframe flag with pulldown, without the dropframe flag, setting the asset to dropframe within Scenarist, without dropframe within Scenarist, etc. Anyone know a way to get this to sync properly? All help appreciated, dvdRENEGADE

This may be a stupid suggestion, because i haven't gotten into any of that myself.
Have you tried to force film anyway and then 3:2 pulldown it back again? I guess that means a fallback in quality.
Is dvd2avi registered to vfapi (see help-menu in dvd2avi) ?

This was just a long shot, but plz tell us if it works.

I solved my problem. I wasn't adjusting the start time of the first subtitle to match the actual audio. I now adjust the Subrip file to shift all subtitle times by the amount of this time difference. I had tried something similar before but was using the stretch feature of Subrip. Needless to say, that didn't work perfectly. I now use HeadAChe to clip about the first 5 minutes of my .ac3 and convert it .wav . I then loaded this .wav into CoolEdit Pro to find the actual time of the first spoken word and did the above alterations.
