Smart Ripper 2.41 asks Quit Ripping before its done. Why???

I have just come across an unusual, and new problem with smartripper.

with the last 2 movies i have tried to decrypt with smart ripper (godzilla, and conan the barbarian)smartripper will start doing its thing, just like normal, then about 3-5 seconds into it, it brings up the "quit ripping, yes or no" window. Im not hitting the stop button.

Why? What is going on? Has anyone else had this peculiar problem. please help!

I used Smart Ripper for a while but there's no problem at all. At the moment, I'm using DVD Decrypter because I don't need to authorise this program by playing a DVD with a DVD player software first. Why don't you try to use DVD Decrypter? It may run better than Smart Ripper on your PC.

What are the advantages of these programs over one another? I have limited experience/use with DVD decryptor. I like Smart ripper because it can easily rip half the chapters to one folder, and the other half to another folder. i havent had any problems with SR until now-

From the descrambling guide (http://www.doom9.org/dvddec.htm) in Doom9.org, it says:
"By now DVD Decrypter is the most complete ripper - despite what the outdated ripper comparison says - and it can do much more than rip. It can do various things with your DVD drives as changing the region, create an image of any DVD disc that you can mount as a virtual disc drive using tools like Daemon Tools, and it can even write these DVD images (provided they fit onto a DVD-5)."
I found that it doesn't need ASPI Layer if you're using Windows 2000. Also, there's a DVD Ripper Comparison (http://www.doom9.org/dvd_ripper_comparison.htm) testing the performances of each ripper that you may be interested in. Instead of trying to figure it out what the problem is, why you don't try to use other softwares until none of the softwares work on your PC ;)

well there must be a new genre of DVDs out there that utilise something that smart ripper can not handle.

I have the same problem on X-Files season 4 dvds. In all of them when getting to vts_05_1.vob, the starting 20th Century logo, the smart ripper stops ripping asking to quit ripping. Whatever you select it moves the vts to HD scrambled, thus forbiding playback.

I dont need the specific vts inthis project so I can live without and in future I can allways switch to dvddecrypter. That is not the point.

The point is to pinpoint what is causing it and be prepared.

Sorry to both of you that my focus was being out of scope of this thread. If oddyseus' idea was true, we may have to prepare to do something, such as sending a list of movies that don't work with Smart Ripper to its creators :mad: Is there anyone out there having the same problem?

BTW Godzilla, Conan, and X-Files are new DVDs? :confused: My apology, I didn't catch up with these kinds of movie.

ok, i figured out what happened. SmartRipper was locking up because i was out of harddrive space. That "quit ripping" message was smartripper's way of saying, "hey ass, why not delete the 41 gigs of old VOB's in your recycle bin so i can finish the rip!"
