How can I convert .mpg (MPEG2) to avi?

I have an .mpg file (MPEG2-encoded, seems from SVCD).
How can I convert it to another format, avi(DivX) for instance?

I found lots of s/w to convert TO SVCD, but nothing to convert FROM it :(
