ffdshow and noise? =/

I dont know what did I mess up, but seems to me, that now
ffdshow *allways* generates noise in my movies, even when
that setting is unchecked.. and it is *really* annoying, because
it soooo messes them up.. ;(

anyone has any ideas how to fix it, besides the
obvious "uninstall it" one..?

p.s. yes, i've tried deleting its settings from registry..
to no luck.

This answer may be stupid but:
are you shure it's ffdshow that makes the noise?
(Remember that DivX5.0.2 also allows noise).
I'm probably wrong because with me the DivX-post-processing was replaced by the ffdshow-one but on the other side: my ffdshow works just fine.
(and at last: Who said you cannot re-install after uninstalling which would be what i'd do (though again you removed the registry entries, but it's worth a try)). Good luck.:)

what makes me think that its ffdshow, is that when I used divx to decode files, it plays gooooood. when i enable film effect of divx, the quality becomes similart to that of ffshow ones..

I've got one possibility which probably won't apply because it's too obvious to make this "error":
It could be (though I don't believe) that you switch off the noise for the wrong preset in ffdshow (as ffdshow has some type of default).
I mean: you change some preset but in reality your not using that one but the default. (well as I said I don't believe that someone like you would do such a mistake).
