i just signed up to try this
€36 for first month (including pci DVB card) thats UK £23
€42 a month after that........for 640kbs 2am to 6pm thats UK £27
(150kbs other times)

will let you know if its any good................
you get to keep the dvb card even if I cancel!

I was put off sat internet befor cos of the high outlay up front
but these guys charge 2 months at a time so i don't see how I
can lose if they r rubbish or go out of business.....

anyone forsee any problems????

Hi sarahjh69-

1. Not so good for 1st person shooter gaming, as the latency is bad, I've heard.
2. In the US, they allow only a very small amount of data transfer every month before you incur additional charges. I'd be sure about bandwidth allowances before signing up if I were you.

Here in Sweden the installation cost for satelite broadband is like 1500 $ :( And on top of that, the speed isn't anywhere near some other ISPs

i've never seen a satelite ISP this cheap! but be aware of backdoors and smallprint anyway! but perhaps it's just plain good!

strange... that somehow sounds totally infamiliar to me!

i think you are mixing this with a satelite for up- and downstream. 1500$ is a bit too much for a simple downstream.
you can get a 768kbit "flatrate" (+cost for upstream) for 40€ per month in germany.

got my dvd card.....took about 5 days
setup my spare sky digital mini dish
(took me about 2 hrs to find the sat
and prop up the dish with boxes etc.

sat reception works at 50% signal strength
but netsystems have not bothered to enable my account yet!

so i can't watch all those dvb tv channels or log on to the vpn yet!!
bummer........................

data rate is not so good as they said
during the 640kbs period I had about
10 different files d/l on grokster and they added to
about 40k download on my 33600 modem i could get 4k
that works out aat 10x the modem speed.......330kbs

not sure its worth the money yet.
I need to find some fast ftp sites to really test it out!

Try to download from Microsoft.com, they have really fast servers. I get download speeds between 2000 and 3000 KB/s from them (that is kilobyte, not kilobit :)).

Man, I will really miss that 100mbit LAN when I have to move out of this university building (I got one more year...)

Im currently using sprintbbd satellite..
yes gaming does suck..
no problem with download, usually around 300kB/s, max@450kB(Byte not bits)
the problem is the upload(20k max) and packetloss(could be location too, im from sf and its always foggy here)..
ive noticed that sometimes i lost upto 5% of the packets which is probably why its not suited for gaming.
but then again im not into games that much :)
and it's $35/a month!
