2 movies 1 dvdr

Now that I have become somewhat proficient at CCEthat has taken a couple of weeks, my files are in the 1.8-2.2 Gig file size.

I use spruce because of it's ease of operation.

Nero because I know how, lol.

I have not gotten into menus. Basically I just want to have choice movie 1 or movie 2. Am I correct to assume that I would have to create a menu and that the dvd would have to be authored that way, or can one just import both into Nero and burn with 2 tracks?

Kinda burns me up that I have 1/2 the dvd left with no content....

The right way to do it is to import both movies into Spruce and use a menu background and buttons for selecting each movie. Then you can put in chapters if you want too. Its easy to do this, Spruce has lots of menus and buttons to use already, or you can use your own. I think you can also import both movies into Spruce, use no menu or buttons, put in chapters for each movie if you want, and just use your title button on your remote to go to the next movie. I did a DVD like this in Spruce and it worked fine, but you really should use a menu background and buttons for selecting the movie, its the right way to do it

..how can you consider fitting to movies in one DVD?

What about the audio file?

My audio files take about 2 gb, in wav format, and the video takes another 2 gb, theres the whole DVD?

Or how are you using your audio?

I am using the "getting the best out of CCE" guide. Think this method is called robshot, all I know is it works great.

Then combining .m2v and .AC3 and importing into Spruce.

DVDDecrypter > dvd2avi > vfapi > CCE > pulldown > Spruce > Nero = DVD

Well to be honest at first I just wanted to see if I could and now I am making a menu with two selections, movie a and movie b. I am following the getting the best out of CCE guide and to be honest, just with the first pass usually ends up pretty good for me. Still using Spruce, I know how. Guess I will eventually move into Maestro, but you know how it is staying in your comfort zone...at least for 1 week!

Greedy.....who me? :rolleyes: ...nah ;) lol

Hi Tumbar,

I am going strir crazy with Monsters Inc. I ripped the movie no probs, non rencoding, so original quaility.

BUT

There's an extra on the DVD called "For the Birds" it's only 3mins 15 secs long, but I can't rip it out to save my life. (It's one of the funniest cartoons I have ever seen)

All pointers show it as Title 3 Chapter 1. But every time I rip that, I end up with the extra called "Mikes New Car".

This is the first time I've done a Disney movie, I'd heard they were difficult, but this is stupid.

Just a helpful hint, use it if you like. Have you ever tried Avisynth instead of vfapi? The speed difference is awesome.

DVDDecrypter > dvd2avi > AVISYNTH > CCE > pulldown > Spruce > Nero = DVD

I tried the avisynth scrypt and I got an error saying that I didn't have an appropriate file size.

What is the speed increase, speed of encoding? I'm actually very dissappointed in my encoding speed. Can't get it any faster than .579.

Perhaps I'll look back into that! :sly:

Hey Tumbar,

Check out this speed on CCE. I just completed "Enigma" with a speed of 1.3 (P4 2GHZ)

Works real well.

As for Monsters Inc, the Main movie was no problem at all, just rip out extra audio, and it comes in well below 4.38 GB.

I'm still having problems with "For the birds" though. I'm going to gvie it a go with DVD Decrypter.

By the way, with Enigma, I have ripped the audio using Smartripper. It says there is a -40ms delay.

How do I incorporate this into Spruce Up without getting synch problems ?? Or do I just mux as usual ?

Just as usual. I beleive that the m2v and AC3 are tied together by something, thats another reason for the ac3, or at least I think I remember hearing that somewhere. I never have a "in sink" problem using the renameing file and allowing spruce to import and compile.

are you using the avisynth ? I'm running a 1.2 athlon, but i'm in pio mode, can't get xp to accept dma. it will on my burners but not on my ide controller. I've tried messing with the bios, no luck. I switched to xp because of the 4gig limit, but I think the machine ran better with "ME", at least I had DMA enabled. Now, I'm thinking of going back, because there is never a single file which is over 4 gigs. Perhaps a folder of files, but not one single file. Even when you burn in nero, it's not 1 single file, rather a folder of files.

Anyway, I'm just happy to be able to get things running as smoothly as they are. Think I should be able to acheive 1.0 speed with this athlon. Will be looking into the avisynth!

I managed to get over 5hrs of film on 1 dvdr, I burnt 3 disney films at a resolution of 352x288, rip from originals with claddvd, converted to m2v video and mp2 audio, audio at 48000, with flask it, used spruceup to author. EASY! Quality still looks amazing!

Burnt one last night, looked fine to me. Only at 1X but hey at that price!

Thanks for the advise on my possible synch problem, I'll give it a try tonight.

Sorry to hear problem using AviSynth. It took me a while to get it running, but the speed it very good. I suggest you go back and "re visit" the problem.

Pity you have problems with DMA / PIO settings. I use DMA on my hard drives, but not DVD / CD drives.

As for cheap media, beware my friend, there may be tears. I use Datasafe (generation 3) have done since I ran out of the free "cheap" discs I got with the burner. Cost is very good less than £1 (about $1-50.) NEVER had a problem. I hope they don't stop making them.
