Large Volume Label Names When Burning With Nero ?

Hi there...

I have decided to burn my DivX movies on CDs today, however I have a problem :

When using Nero 5.5.5.1 to burn the Divx AVIs onto the CD, I am not able to use more than 11 characters in the Volume Label. What I want to achieve is to include the whole name of the movie in the Volume Label and many movies have very lengthy titles (I Know What You Did Last Summer e.t.c.). I want to be able to view the whole movie title as the Label of the CD when I open it up with Windows Explorer, after I burn it...

When I click on File --> New , I am able to use as many characters as I want in the Volume Label field under the Label Tab, however I am not able to use more than 11 when trying to rename the CD-R on the drag-and-drop windows of Nero

Any help ?

P.S. : I have tried using ISO Level 2, but still there was an 11 characters restriction in the drag & drop area workspace of Nero.

In my experience, only 11 characters can be used.
Same applies to Nero and EZCD creator. I have never seen a cdrom/cdr with more then 11.

I just found out that when Joliet is disabled, I can use as many characters as I want in the Volume Label, however I cannot use spacebar but only the _ between words (i.e. LORD_OF_THE_RINGS).

On the other hand, when Joliet is enabled, I can use the spacebar between words, however there is an 11 characters restriction in the Volume Label.

Is there any way I could have the best of both worlds i.e. No character restriction PLUS the ability to use the sacebar between words ?

I don't see any way to combine the advantages of Joilet and ISO9660 (that's what it's actually called).
And by the way:
- every Disc has ISO9660 (even if you only enter a Joilet name. In that case the ISO9660 name is the same only in Capitals and replacing every special character or space by an underscore).
- even if you use ISO9660 and give your disc an extremely long name you probably won't see it completely in windows (depends perhaps on your Windows version).

Finally, I'd say:
do it as everyone does and "re-invent" the movie's name such as "LOTR" instead of "Lord of the Rings".

There is a setting in Nero that you have to change. I don't have Nero on this computer, so I can't check which. But it's in the same tab as you choose ISO level 2 and all those. When I burn at home I can use spaces and about 16 characters.

what's the differences between Joilet and ISO9660 besides the length of the names? or is it just that?

you could try using sony cd-extreme. afaik it solved the problem of buring their extremely lengthy-named mp3s onto cd. it might also allow extremely long labels..

Well, I have been using ISO Level 2 and ASCII character set (Joliet disabled) so as to have lengthy Volume Labels, however just found out that ISO only supporst up to 31 characters filename :( Of course I want to use a lot more than that, but in order to do it, I have to enable Joliet which on the other and restricts the Volume Label to 16 characters... :( :(

I'm afraid I can't have long VOLUME LABELS + lenghty FILENAMES so I'll have to settle with one of the two... :rolleyes:
