The longest 5 days of my life...:)

After reading through 545 posts and working through the Prof. DVD Author guide, I still have a really basic question.

I've been able to bring in all assets, and create the subpictures and link all the buttons. But what I want is simple: I want it to play a DVD Logo, then a Title Introduction and then have it go to the Main Menu. After that, I don't want to be able to go back to see the Logo or the Title Intro again (by pressing Title).

But for some reason, after clearing the Pre command off of the First PGC, it won't let me link it to my DVD Logo.

How should I set this up to get the results I want?

(I've attached an image, so hopefully it will be up later...)

Well, I managed to figure it out for myself (by rereading the manual yet again and checking over some posts here)

For those who might be interested -

I put the DVDLogo and the TitleIntro in the Video Manager under an English language folder.

Put the MainMenu under the English folder in VTS_1.

Linked POST of First PGC to DVDLogo.
Linked POST of DVDLogo to TitleIntro.
Linked POST of TitleIntro to MainMenu.

This seemed to work great.

The other thing I made sure to do was to put the TitleIntro into the VM first so that it would be tagged as the Title (the grey Title tab appears.) I'm sure there's some way to change it after it's in there, but for now this is the only way I know how.

Thanks for all the info on this site.

Do u want the advice of an old timer working on both of them a couple of years?

go for Maestro. It is much easier to control and fun to author with.

that is of course if u want something to author your titles with and there is not any obligation to use Scenarist.

Thanks!

I just finished my first project, complete with motion menus, "play all" features, and of course an "easter egg." All because of this site. It was a blast connecting all those PGCs to each other, and for me, the linking command part of Scenarist reminded me of programming in C (which I use to do a LONG time ago, before I discovered computers were evil and like to erase files that you've worked hours and hours on...:)).

I actually liked the challenge of figuring out the logic in directing the traffic from one PGC through the VM and back. Plus, it took SO long to learn!

Although I'm sure in a month I'll try Maestro.

Thanks again.
