View Full Version : Why pixelation 15 minute before the end of the movie?

Here it goes.

After burning a DVD-R that is almost maxed out I watched movie 1 & 2 with no problems. Movie 3 started to do pixelation and stoppaged 15 minutes before the end. This is very annoying and almost fits into Murphys laws. My questions are these:

I took the disk out applied eye glass cleaner wiped it and it played perfect. Now the disk was brand new just out of the burner no finger prints or anythinelse on the surface. Any idea why?

Does heat generated during playing have an effect on perhaps the cooling down because of the spray solved the problem?

I have no labels on the disk and the media is 3rd generation DVD-R.

Please any suggestions.

more a burning question, but yes cheap(er) dvd players seem to heat the discs up a lot, some even heat up pressed discs to the point of pixelation.

My DVD player is a portable one the Panasonic PVD40 without the screen. It was not cheap but I am getting upset if that is the case and the thing overheats to cause pixelation.

What do you mean a burning question? I use Maestro to compile and Prassi to burn on a Pioneer 104 drive.

Could it be that there is a film or sediment on the surface from shipping that needs to be removed?

Grasping at straws.

The most important question is what type of disks are they, if there cheap generic media thats your problem, pixalation is the main indication of cheap media

Try playing the files on your computer through a software DVD player. If they play perfect on your computer but start skipping near the end on standalones, your DVDs are cheap and you should use a higher quality brand. I had this same problem when I started dvd authoring. I had the problem with Princo and some other cheap brands. Good luck, dvdRENEGADE

I have gone through the threads on the site regarding regarding DVD-Rs and the cheap media. I line in the UK and we have a pretty good distributer here and the DVD-Rs are branded FWS is one of the brands and Data Save is the other a 3rd Generation DVD-R. In the past I have not had any problem with these brands and many others are using them also without major difficulties.

What atartled me was that as soon as I wiped the DVD with eyeglass cleaner I fast forwarded to the same spot and replayed the last 20 minutes without any pixalation. Thus my questions regarding heat or any foreign substance on the surface.

Since than I replayed that same DVD same spot but no difficulties.

i was trying to hint that this thread would be best in the dvd burning forum rather than the authoring forum.

as for your problem, your dvd player seems to be good enough quality, check your discs.
