I want to compare the quality of different encodings of the same movie. Any tool I can use or maybe a player that can play two avi's at once?

OK so i opened 2 virtualdubs, loaded the 2 avi, one divx 3, one divx 5, which i had encoded using g-knot, about the same filesize. I compared a lot of frames, they look exactly (and i mean exactly) the same! How come? No visable diff between divx 3-5 ?
And should i use divx5pro? Can you view them with the normal divx 5 codec?

well i think you should look at doom9s comparisons of differnet encoding versions!
there are BIG differences!
what movie did you compare?? the difference comes out when you have a lot of fast scences, like combat (just for example of course)!
no offence though (:
if you like divx3 go on use it...
just one more warning: when it comes to standalone players you'll have practically no chance playing divx3.
you might want to consider that !!

PS.. yes you can show divx5pro encoded movies with divx5 although the quality might drop a little bit!

Does anyone now a good player where you can seek a specific frame and then take a screenshot in full screen? The purpose would of course be to compare the screenshots. It's much easier to see a a difference in full screen, so the method cereal killa used doesn't work that well.

this is actually a tool to synchronise audio and video, but it has a preview mode you can play in full screen and a go to funstion so you can look at it frame by frame...
screenshots are of course only possible by hitting the good old print screen button !
and well yes you can only open one movie at a time... so you better write down the frame numbers!

You got a link where it can be downloaded from? Just searching on synchroniser doesn't give very good results.
