Could somebody tell me when "delay" that all speak about starts up ?
I ripped AC3 sound from the movie with use of FlaskMPEG. Then I used command-line "azid" and "lame" for conversion of AC3 to wav and then to MP3. Does delay exist also in this case ?

Thank you.

When you use DVD2AVI to rip the AC3 from the vob files, it will give you the delay info in the filename ("MovieName AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY -103 ms.ac3"). Then you can either remove the delay when encoding to mp3 or mux it with delay

I don't know about FlaskMPEG, maybe it removes the delay, maybe not...

Normally, if you demux audio stream from an entire DVD then there shouldn't have any delay. However, if you demux audio stream starting somewhere in the movie (not from the beginning of the movie), there may be some delay :)

The example I just used ("...DELAY -103 ms.ac3") was from Matrix R2 PAL, ripped with Smartripper in movie mode. Also right before me on I have Conspiracy Theory, ripped completely in movie mode as well - the AC3 demuxed with DVD2AVI is: "Conspiracy Theory AC3 T01 3_2ch 384Kbps DELAY -96ms.ac3"

As I said before, both movies are complete rips but still they have a delay. I don't know why, but they do...

it has to do with the way the movie is authored, and certain rippers and demuxers will show you this delay(sometime, but not often, it is 0). If you want to correctly sync your audio and video, you have to either apply this delay when converting the audio or when muxing it into the video.
