My m2v and audio track is a combined 4.31 GB. That's all I using, no subtitles. Just the video and one audio track.

After I muxed them together in Scenarist the project (VOB files) comes out at 4.41 GB, which is too big for a DVD. This basically makes my 5 hours of reencoding useless. What does Scenarist add to the project??

I am following the CCE & IFOEdit guide. It would have been nice if they mentioned this in the guide. :(

If you are needing to lower the bitrate of your video, there's no reason to go through the whole process over. If you still have your .vaf file created by CCE and the original files where they were when you reencoded the video, you can just choose to run a 1-pass multipass encode and lower the bitrate a tad and it will only have to run through the video 1 time. So, it shouldn't be a total waste of time...just a little inconvenient. Good luck, dvdRENEGADE

Oh thank you so much ... I had thought if I did a one pass it would be like starting over again. This is very good news.

Anyway I have learned my lesson and when reencoding I will leeave room for overhead in the future.

Thanks again

Another approach might be to re-encode the audio. At least it worked for me..... This is what I have done:
I decoded the ac3 audio into 6 separate wavs, and then re-encoded to 5.1 ac3 using scenarist's ac3 encoding, using a lower bitrate.

It worked....

Acreff,
If you wanted to transcode an .ac3 to a lower bitrate, the AC3Machine-Besweet option is the quick and easy way. Just look under The Guides > Audio Related > AC3 transcoding guide. dvdRENEGADE

I tried to apply this method, but it could only give me ac3s that could not be recognised by scenarist. That's why I used the method described above.

Any hints will be appreciated.

it seems that u r somewhat 30meg over the capacity of a dvd-r. Why dont u cut of the credits both in audio and video. That could do the trick for this time only. Allways leave overhead.

I had the exact same problem with scenarist, I guess the vob's file size is not equal to the size ot the two input files added together?
