Hi,
hearing that kiss will bring a DVD/MP4 standalone player soon, I gave it a try and tried to convert on of my divX.aviīs to the .mp4 format using DivX5.02 MP4-creator. The .avi file was encoded with the DivX5.02
codec.
So, I opended Virtual Dub > compression > divx5 codec > configure > advanced parameters > mpeg4 creator, then I indicated the .avi file
and pressed > convert. Message:
"Convertion coulnīt be finished, check wether file is encoded with DivX5 or greater." Sure it is!
Any ideas? Much thanxs in advance,
HK

I don't know why the in-build MP4 creator didn't work for you, but I do know that people have tried to convert DivX5-AVI to DivX5-MP4 with an external tool. This showed that the MP4 didn't work properly when the DivX5 Pro features (B-frames/Q-Pel/GMC) were used during encoding...
So your best bet is to try again with a video that doesn't contain the DivX5 Pro features.

Hi and thanks for the reply!
I found that convertion works for video files without audio multiplexed yet. In consequence, it is not a proper AVI file you can convert with this feature despite what DivXnet says in their own guide!!

So the problem to solve is: How do I multiplex the .mp4 file with the presumably mp3-, ac3- or aac file, to make it a whole.
(Quicktime 6 should actually be able to play it, anyway..)

Further ideas? Greetings from Berlin,
HK

Try this:
Mpeg4ip guide (http://www.everwicked.com/content/MPEG4IP_Guide/)

Remember to use psytel aac encoder, mpeg 4 special version

so thereīs no way to convert divx-avis with mp3-audio (lame vbr) to mp4? would be bad, īcause if this stand alone players are available, iīd have to create all my movies again?

Usually any AVI with VBR MP3 inside can't be processed further by any application, because it required a non-standard method to put the audio in in the first place. Converting to MP4 is no exception.

However -h once postulated that it might be possible to convert a DivX3 stream into an MPEG-4 compatible stream. Maybe it would be possible to strip out the VBR MP3 in a similar way as well. But for now it's not possible just yet.
