Just tried my first Memorex DVDR's, and I get the classic cheap disk crap, pixalation, sound dropping in and out, just like generic media. Same files play fine on Apple DVDR or TDK rewritable. I'm am getting sick and tired of defective or cheap media

Memorex doesn't make any media.

Try ADVDInfo to find the manufacturer. But beware: I get bsods when trying to use this software...

If you get tired of crap media, then look into the corresponding thread and find out which cheap media contains TDK 2x discs.

Memorex DVD-RW's seem to be ok, but not the DVDR's I bought. Same problems as generic media, PIXALATION

I agree completely commander. I've made about 6 trys with Memorex and MAXELL DVD-R's and nothing could describe them better: they are a complete crap and they are expensive. I have had excellent results with Pioneer, Verbatim and even Princo DVD-RW (they are excellent, and cheap).

At least I found someone with the same opinions. I thought I was doing something wrong with these Memorex discs!

Maxell also sucks!

i would be pissed as s--t if i bought media that expensive only to find that it doesn't work. Thx for heads up.

I guess I am lucky, in that I have gotten away with only one coaster out of about 50 burns thus far, two different batches. These were DVDR.

I have a spindle of the 2X TDK's enroute. These are also DVDR.

I have not had as good of luck with the DVDRW. My original "pioneer" sent with the burner, I've used about 6-7 times. But I bought 6 "optodisks" DVDRW which should be called "Optoshits" cause they only burn once, Nero can't erase them, primo DVD says it erases them but then can't write over them, Nero won't write them again either.

I have some verbatims coming.:sly:

I'm wondering if it's your IDE/ATAPI settings. I had the same problem with several of my dvd-rws when I had my drive on DMA setting instead of PIO.
