Hello all,

Sorry for the post's title i know it ain't clear but i'm still french!

Well i remember a post exposing this strange fact (dubbing downloaded divx with Vdub results in a 100M less file than the original) but can't get a hand on it since i personnaly had the case.
Recently i dubbed a 800M french version of Austin Powers 3 (wich sucks)and had as a result the same movie but with the new size of 650M.

Where in the hell does that come from?
It also works with almost all dlded divx i have...

Well, got any idea? remember the former post?

This is stupid. Since you are reencoding with DivX, the file size will be dependent on the data rate that you set. If you use a lower data rate, you'll get a smaller file.

U don't understand. When i write "dubbing" it means in "Direct stream copy" for both video and audio.
U don't believe me? try it urself and see.

It can be an edonkey bug that add extra information at the end of your file.
It's quite strange to find a 800MB files, what can you do with this (hard to fit on 1 normal CD, and XCD is not very sure for AVI file) ?
Also you can try to use the virtual dub hex editor to look at those extra data, or even extract the first 650MB data to another file to look if the film is still complete.

Right!

it's the donkey's fault.
I still don't know what are those extras Megs but i think it's about hashing and corruptions...

To answer u, a 800M file is usefull because u can WATCH THE MOVIE!

Screeners are not good enough to deserve to be burn, it's the lowest quality of "divx" u can find on the www so bigger they are, better they are!
