I've been messing with transcode under linux recently... It seems like it does everything really well, on the fly DVD-Divx, DVD-SVCD, SVCD-Divx, Divx-SVCD.....

But It's a command line tool... There is a DVD:RIP GUI, but it doesn't let you do everything you want with transcode...

Basically I was wondering what other people have been doing for linux video encoding etc....

I was thinking about writing a transcode front end to allow people to do all sorts of nifty stuff with transcode... Anyone interested in helping out? It's not something I can tackle straight away on my own since I've never undertaken a GUI project in linux before...

I would like to do something like what Xcdroast does for cdrecord.... A nice easy interface that lets you do mostly what you need with no hassles...

I found a little bitrate calculator...

Perhaps this thread could become a list of linux resources??? Or is there already one out there I'm missing out on?
