Hi!I usually encode my movies using the AC3 sound rather than compressing it into an mp3.I wanted to rip the end credits song of one of my movies so I thought to rip the whole soundtrack and then cut the part I wanted.I used Nandub and I also used avi2wav.However I get the same problem. The sound of the wav is completely distorted with breaks. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

BeSweet and HeadAC3he might come to your rescue here, they can both be used to split, decode, and encode all at once.

Forgive me if I am wrong but Headac3h and BeSweet use sound formats as inputs.I want to put an avi as input and rip the audio.Perhaps you didn't understand what I want to do and what my problem is.
Thanks for the efford and I am looking forward to some further help.:)

If I'm not wrong ;) , Nandub can't transcode your ac3 sound. So, in "Save WAV" dialog, you must choose .ac3 extension (you must write it yourself > all files->then write yoursoundfile.ac3 as your output sound file name).
Than you can use HedAC3he or some other transcoding tool to convert it to wav...

I have problems when getting the audio from Nandub. When i see the info. of the file, nundub doesn't know what codec is used and if i try to save it to disk, it stop at the half of the process with the resulting of a not hearable file.
I have been searching in the web for a directshow filter that writes AC3, but without luck :( . I will post a new thread for this.

read all of Q15 in the audio FAQ and try all methods/combinations there.

I have found a thread in the forum:

They are making a directshow AC3 encoder filter. Don't know if it will work for us.
I will try now avi2wav and then use besplit.
Thanx pacohaas

It works with both programs (avi2wav and nundub). Of course the use of besplit is needed in any case.

My friend Stargazer, I tried to use Nandub as you told me and indeed it worked...to a point. After I ripped the ac3 stream from the avi I fed it to headac3he but there I got a warning message saying that the last frame was missing or that the stream was corrupted.I continued to encode it into a .mp3 but I had the following problems:
1)The sound was very low.
2)According to the player (media player 7) the mp3 was 34 minutes long but the mp3 kept playing beyond 34 minutes:confused:
3)When I tried to feed it to mp3trim in order to trim the piece I wanted I got a message saying that the mp3 was too long (106%).
What is going on?
Can you find anything wrong in what I am doing?
Thanks for the help:)

Maybe is a problem with the wav header stated by pacohaas (FAQ. q15).
Fix the AC3 and try again (i don't know if you have done it already)
